I've borrowed this sprue cutter from my neighbour.  I'm hoping it'll be up to coping with the big attachment points on short run kits...

I think that may even have trouble with one or two of the older ones 

That's when you break out the oxy-acetylene.  It can't fight you if it's liquid.
