Got back from Telford totally creamed, I really don't travel well nowadays. I wasn't in the best of moods for various reasons, so that didn't help, but I've just booked next years hotel, so

Couple of appointments with medic's this week, and then I suppose I'll have to start thinking about Crimbo. All good fun  ;)

Shock horror, but I got a couple of hours at the bench today, first since Telford.

Continued working on the canopy area of the Fw 187 to turn it into a single seater, There's a fair bit more work to be done ikn this area yet though. Also managed some more painting of the Mosquito internals. This is not going to be "shake and bake" either so neither will get finished until next year. In the meantime I might start working on something a little simpler to keep the Mojo turning  ;D

A little bit more progress on both current projects, not much, but progress is progress

One of New Year resolutions is definately going to be "don't waste time on parts that will not be seen in/on the finished model". Wonder how long that will last ?

Agree with that, and have the same questions about my own builds...  ;D

Interestingly the kit that will hit the bench next is IBG's Fw 190D-15 which includes a simple engine. Now I will build it, as it may be required structuraly ?, but it definately won't get detailed or painted. Progress

Gondor

Dragon did the same thing with their late-war Fw190/Ta152s; you had to build the engine so that the exhausts had something to be mounted on.

I have one of those, and I may well cobble up something to hold them in lieu of the engine.
There again, what will I use it for? Or will it just be something that just lurks in the Parts Bin forever?

IIRC the Dragon Dornier 335 does the same. Again, I could cobble something together, but that's potentially another DB605 (or 2) to lurk in the box...

Give them to Phill, he'll find a decent use for them!   ;D

Too small - 1/72.
There again, it's Phill, so maybe for something in 1/350?  ;D
Or a donkey engine/generator in 1/35... hmmm... now where could I use one of those...

London Toy Soldier and Model Show yesterday, as much for "Christmas Lunch" with Nick and Dave as the show it'self   However some of the "toy" soldiers on display were absolutely magnificent  but the prices  :o  :o  :o They also gave me and Dave an inkling for a possible 2026/2027 GB suggestion  ;)

Were these 1/18 scale toy soldiers or their smaller sci-fi/fantasy brethren per chance?

Incidentally, I too have an idea for a group build next year

No, more the traditional 1/72 scale.
