Quote from: PR19_Kit on October 09, 2025, 03:56:24 PMAirfix had a bunch of reps who came round discussed what was selling and what wasn't, and what did we think of the possible demand for a Scruggs Wonderplane, or whatever.

I would imagine that the Scruggs wonderplane would sell very well, but it would have to be at 1/144 scale to fit on a reasonably sized workbench.  The  design of the ventral observation gallery would be the only major assembly problem.

Was he creative as an engineer or just
a plodding boxchecker?

He was very creative as an engineer, he just couldn't see the point of putting effort into things that "weren't real" like models of real things or illusions of things that don't exist. He'd spent so many years arguing with ignorant management (who didn't understand engineering issuses) and arrogant computer types (who thought mechanical issues were trivial) that he could be pretty dogmatic and forceful in putting his perspective across.

Spitfires, sales, cock-ups, 1/48th scale, wrong Vintage Classics.

Hope that's okay.

OK, but I heard from our postman Scott that according to his 5th cousin's ex-wife's best friend's sister who lives in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, her uncle who once swept the floors at Hannant's states the Wonderplane is .42mm too short in span.
Another Airfix cock-up.

Yea, very funny. Sometimes I'm not in the greatest of moods you know..  ;)

Anyway my latest e-mail from them is yet another Space kit promo, so they are definately on a space kick. Either that or someone in Mumbai miss-read the order when it came to number of moudings required ?

Hmmm, do I qualify as well considering I believe that using the word "flex" to mean you're showing off makes you, putting it politely, an oik?

Mind you, using the word oik probably qualifies me straight off...

I think you have to say it more like " mandem been flexing Fam" to really be considered something akin to the youth....
