Yep, I see it, but it's 100% a mistake by Airfix.

The only reason I could think of for it being newly tooled was if there'd been some damage to the original mould. I've got a few JB and Airfix boxings of the GS and refueller versions and it's a lovely kit. It was the best of the JB range, the 1 Ton Land Rovers being pretty close.
