Harrier T. 2/T.4
Jaguar T. 2
Meteor  T. 7
Lightning T. 4/T.5
Canberra T. 4
Hunter T. 7
JP 5.
All of course in the one true 1/72 scale! 😉😂

I like that list, oh yes. I've often said that 2 seater versions of some single seaters look far better than their original forebears. An Su-27 being a case in point.

And of that list I've built 5 out of the 7 already.  ;D

Dunno why but I'm rarely excited about two-seat variants of single seater jets, but yes the Su-27 two-seaters (but oh no NOT the Su-34!), the F-15E, F-18 two-seaters and the Harrier T.10/T.12.

That was me too, until I got the crazy idea to covert that ancient Revell Draken interceptor into a trainer. And now, I fear I'm deep into a rabbit hole already..

I agree that some trainers look better than the single-seaters. To that list, I'd add:

Mirage F1B/D
F-106B Delta Dart
TF-9J "Two-gar"

No harm in fantasies I guess! I like the "bundle" idea though especially when Airfix tell you what's in it. I think the "Mystery Bundles" though are a real pig in a poke. That's obviously just a personal view but, I've been burned twice before, ending up with 8 out of 10 kits I didn't want.
My fault of course for buying the the damned things but, I won't be buying any more Mystery bundles! 😉.

I'll probably wait until the Gnat and JP inevitably appear in the Aldi/ Lidl festive bargains at £5.99 each before buying any more though.

I'd be a lot more inclined to try a Mystery Bundle if they at least guaranteed that all the kits in it would be the same scale (1/72nd for me, but they should do a 1/48th bundle too).

I've ended up with three JP starter kits and I didn't buy any of them. Now I know exactly which of my freinds shop at Lidl/Aldi. Same with Cromwell tanks... ;D

I almost bought an armour bundle when I was thinking of dabbling in 1/35. I didn't know my tastes so it would be a good way of starting a stash.

I think another way of using it would be as a club build or between friends prepared to go out of their comfort zone. All chip in, then build what you get.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

No I don't think he wants to get into 1/35th armour any more than Mossie does... ;)

Never got that kind of "sale" if I'm honest. Surely you're more likely to clear more merchandise by lowering prices across the board? I'm not sure they have £75s worth of models I'd want at the moment.

This kind of sale they want you to spend more, they need more coming in. Some will happily spend quite high amounts of money at one time. It's also strategic, most people's pay days are in the last week of the month and they may need to hit targets. September is financial year end for many businesses, or may be a quarterly target.

Sometimes sales are for promotional reasons or to clear stock, but ironically, most of the time we spend more in a sale because it gives us that happy feeling that we've saved, even when we had no intention of buying the stuff in the first place.

There does seem to be this air of desperation that Harold mentioned. I'd suggest taking advantage of the sales if people can and need (want) the products as it'll keep Airfix going and investing in new tools.

Like Mossie said, the point is to get you to spend more than you were going to in order to get over the threshold for "saving".

"Ooh, I only wanted £55 worth of kits, but if I spend another £25 on that kit I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise, then I'll save £15!"

Magical thinking, basically.

What's worrying me is that the stream of back-to-back sales reminds me uncomfortably of the last few years of Modelzone, and we all know what happened to them. People got wise to it after a while, and refused to pay them full retail for anything in the near certitude that it'd be in a sale at a heavy discount six months later.

Interesting, can't say it's ever made me want to buy more, guess my brain's not wired they way they want  ;D

Just been doing a bit of playing on their website. The discount does apply to the bundles, which are already heavily discounted, but you can only use either your Airfix Club discount (10%) or the £15 code, but not both. You can, however, use your Hobby Reward points on the purchase.

Even if you haven't got any Hobby Reward points, that still means you can get the Summer Air Show bundle, which is 6 kits including 8 aircraft that normally retail at £154*, for £85. That's a near 45% saving in total.

The sale ends on 29sep25.

You CAN take advantage of it if you haven't been sent the code in an e-mail. The discount code is: SS13A15off75
