This time round I'm having one!

Sure they haven't changed the options in the box ?

Sod's Law, I put an order in for an SLS on Wednesday.... :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Is it just my nasty suspicious mind, or is there an air of desperation about all this? We've had a Club members sale, free £25 kits, and now double-discount, pretty much back-to-back. Are they in trouble?

How much did they ship to the US?  Maybe they are trying to clear out stuff they can't now economically send across the Atlantic so as to make room in the warehouse for stuff they know is coming in from the factory.

Possibly, although I have to wonder how popular Beauforts ever were across the pond.

They just put up the unboxing video for the Vintage Classics Puma, so it's release can't be too far away:

The US Airfix site is basically dead, everything goes through the main Hornby site.
Only 49 Airfix products are shown as available, no pre-orders at all. It appears that
they had a big sale on a bunch of stuff, most of which is now out of stock. An exception
is the Type 45 for $30.00 instead of $99.99.

Type 45

I hope all of those "conservative" modellers who voted for the current sh!tshow are happy.
It's only going to get worse.

I must have an equally suspicious mind then ;)  ;D . Regarding the Artemis SLS, I'm waiting for the Revell kit. It's about £10 cheaper and, due for release in about weeks. In all honesty, there's not been much in the club members sale or, "free" kit offers that's been of interest.

Been thinking that for ages, although Hornby (the parent) have had a reasonable year if you look at their most recent results.

No worries, another Spitfire issue will help them.

That's bad. Means we're probably going to see another half dozen of the wretched things (new and reissued) in the Airfix 2026 list

Agreed, there's nothing available that, a) I want and, b) I don't already have in one form or another.

The only things I'd snap up are the things they seem disinclined to deliver, like 1/72 versions of all the excellent recent 1/48 offerings.

PRECISELY!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Where do they get their plastic parts made these days?

As far as I'm aware it's mostly India. However there have been some quality control issues and some talks have been going on with prospective UK companies. How far that got I've no idea. Assuming they are at Telford it'll be a nice question to ask one of their reps' on the Sunday when things are quieter.

Edit : Just checked my most recent boxing (the 1/48th Jaguar) and that was India. Lads with the new Wessex will be able to confirm that.

Some of their plastic is already made in the UK. There was a series of videos a while back (2022...) where they invited various modelling Youtubers to the Plastech factory where they were making 1/24th Spitfires:

There were several other videos by other people on the tour: this was just one of them.

Seems like Plastech also make their Quick-Build models.
