Funny to come here and see the last post be Zenrat talking about the one true scale, because I've tracked down one of those things that I've always wanted but are so difficult to find in 72nd (76th in this case, but if you come round my spare bedroom with a micrometer I'll simply turn you away)

I recently discovered the "Salvage Yard" section of Kingkit, and of course I now look an nearly nothing else. I was delighted to see this kit:

For under a tenner! If you want LRDG in 72 or 76, you can either pay nearly £40 for the OOP Dragon Chevy, pay a variety of larger sums for small run resin kits (tempting, but the building is all the fun and they tend to be bricks of resin you stick white metal wheels on) or pay nearly £100 for one of these on eBay! Luckily, somebody had started painting this one and cut out the plastic display base (a shame, but I won't cry for too long about it) so I got it for a steal!
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

I can't remember ever seeing that Kit, and I was around when it was first released  ;D

I used to reallly like the little "diorama" bases that came with their militarty kits.

Me too, when I was younger I had a few of the later Revell re-boxings and the diorama bases were such a cool touch. Perhaps further down the line I'll make one for these.

Both arrived at different Post Offices today (I now know how to avoid that happening again).

There's quite a lot of cream resin in the upgrade set for the LVTP5 ... Of course, there's a quite lot of empty space inside the kit to fill with gubbins', too.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

I still have a couple of the LRDG sets from Back In The Day... sometime, they may get finished...  :banghead:  :-\

On the First of the month, I got a package of transfers from The Very Nice Man Who Lives Under The Hat... Thanks, Kit!!

Some Armee de l'Air tail markings for an Fw-190
The 'Isabel III' script for a particular P-51 as flown by a certain Kiwi
Some strings of random Yellow USAAF serial numbers that I can cut up for random serials on whifs
and the Number Plates to mark up the 1/32 Escort and Capri that will be from a certain Security Forces Action serial from the 80s...  ;)

When I visited my Stash Enabler (tm), I also got some White rub down decals in random shapes; the squares and stars of which will be useful for another users' Post-War Fw-190....

And lastly, some AeroMaster paints, remaindered from a shop Down South... including a Fonce Vert, which to my eyes is Close Enough to the 'Goose Poop Green' some post-war Fw-190s were painted in - so I guess that all means the two Li'l Fockes will be among the next models to land on the workbench.

But I'm not complaining, Honest, Guv!  ;D

Oooh, i'm very jealous.  I have fond memories of having one of them as a child.  I want another but as you say - hens teeth.  You are very lucky to find it.

i freely admit that the salvage yard is one of the places i look at each time i have a bit of cash for king kit,  if you arnt bothered regarding instructions or decals, you can get to bargains,   and if your happy with a bit of scratch building, some of the " missing parts" selection in a heavenly thing,

But the 4X4 was quite useful- so much so, that they kept a few even after switching to the Chevs.

From the Big H a couple of Eduard bits, 3D cockpit "decals" and a canopy masking set for the Airfix Mossie and some Danish AF transfers.

Apart from my planned Danish Battle, their AF is also going to get a Brewster Buffalo to accompany it, as well as possibly a Lysander, and possibly even a Danish Lightning ?

Would that be a Lightning with engines in parallell or stack?

Stacked.

I don't think I've ever built an EE Lightning either ? Certainly not an F-35 one, although I have built a couple of P-38's
