I quick 'from the box' review' would be very welcome Trevor. I might get one of them myself, I've had rude thoughts about a Seamew since it was announced..........

It's a very straightforward looking kit I think you could do over a weekend from start of to finish. No etched brass or white metal to worry about. I am going do it over the Easter weekend. A version with target tug stripes is a possibility.

You are not the only one!  I think it was Eric Brown who said  "I've a soft spot for the Seamew............it's called the Goodwin Sands!"

Although I assume that these are not precisely the thoughts you have in mind.

Didn't know that. Operationally I realised if I wanted it to do much it meant burdening the airframe with stuff. Target tug is the only option that comes readily to mind. Coastal patrol by the reserves is another. I am going to paint mine in EDSG and sky with two colour roundels which FAA code letters I use on the tail could be interesting.

Just recieved in the mail today. No whiffery on this one sadly. Being built straight from the box.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Another role that comes to mind is a Radar and Navigational Aid Calibration aircraft. These need to fly at a set speed, which is fairly slow, and in a fixed direction and altitude. The seamew is almost designed for the task.

From Evil-bay, two kits i've built before but want to have another go at.

This one i built OOB painted metallic grey.  I'd like to do something more interesting paint wise and maybe smaller rims (i'm not keen on the whole thin tyre look)...

...and when I built thiis one I got something wrong and had to butcher the interior to get it to fit.  It has an almost complete interior with sides that reach right up to the top of the windows.  I had to grind a huge amount away to get it to fit.  I've always wondered if it was me or AMT who was to blame.  Now I can find out.

Not meaning to derail the thread, but it isn't just looks. Those narrow sidewalls are meant to be better for cornering, but it's only really significant if you're driving through urban areas like you're racing. On rural roads the lack of cushioning is probably bad for front suspensions. I had a Mazda 6 with low-profile sidewall tires, and it had a number of front-end troubles. Once I switched to regular rims and tires, they seemed to clear up, even though there were more kilometres on it by that time.

Received today from eBay,

1 x 1/72 Special Hobby SH 72103 Hawker Tempest Mk.II ,,In RAF Service". Yes, I know it looks odd, but that's how it's written on the box! This is the second of two of this kit I ordered from eBay, both have Evri as the courier, and going by the tracking, the other one arrived at a hub on the 23rd of last month. As a consequence, I have contacted the seller politely asking if they would give the courier a kick up the A$$!

EDIT: Just received a refund for the other Tempest.

It's actually with some shame I'm admitting to the procurement of three Hasegawa J35F Drakens, one J35J and to add insult to injury, a Heller Draken as well. Considering the amount of Hasegawa Drakens already present in my Stash, this might be seen as more than a tad extravagant.

In my defence, they were bundled, the price per kit very reasonable indeed given what they usually go for, and now, I can really go to town with Danish Drakens. I had plans for a single Mod 4 upgrade of a strike Draken, but now, I think I have material enough for both a reconnaissance/strike bird and a combat capable trainer as well.

It's a good thing I'm in Denmark boosting Danish mojo.  ;)

And I have more MiG 21s, Su 25s, and Dodge Chargers than is decent.  Nothing wrong with being a little obsessed.

Ever look at your stashes and wonder how you ended up with so many of a type? 34 Spits and 25 Hurricanes makes me wonder if they truly do breed or whether I've caused an L-space portal to open in my cupboards.

Maybe, but it's a far more socially acceptable kind of addiction.

Does 7 x 1/35 Centurion variants count as an addiction &, if it does, does that apply to 7 x 1/35 Stryker variants, too?

Lightweight!  Come back when you have 300 built spitfires and double that in the stash.
