Updates. The MB12 is now in overall grey. It will adapt one of the MB6 kit schemes with much natural metal but bright orange rear fuselages and tip tanks. The MT ANG F16XL two seater is awaiting the arrival of a parcel from Hannants, principally two ejection seats. The 1/48 Weselflug P1003/3 is mostly painted in the Luftwaffe nightfighter scheme.

This Saturday off to Statfold Barn near Tamworth with IPMS Coventry and Warwickshire but taking some wiffs.

The Astra Decals F16 reinforcement plates have been difficult to get used too. But 30 minutes of faffing about and I think I have cracked them. The F16XLs will look a lot better for their addition.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

The odd thing about the vinyl reinforcement plates is what you do when you have stuck them in place is to lightly sand said plates. Doing this takes the shine off the pieces (prior to painting). Each piece is best removed from the backing by the point of a scalpel blade. The pieces are quite sticky enough as supplied but applying some extra pressure here seemed to help.

I said elsewhere that the 3D printed replacement ejection seats were excellent. They will be easy to paint and clean up. They are by Special Hobby.

Two photos here. First the very few etched brass bits added to the MB12 are making it look very F82ish.....

Second the F16XL two seater and the vinyl cut reinforcement plates. These are going to look the part when the model is painted.

Just completed the first coat of fluorescent orange on the MB12. It will take one or more coats to get it right. The tip tanks are aluminium but these orange ones just muddy the waters further between an F82 and the MB12. All being well I am very likely to have on the What If stand at SMW2025.

The MB12 is now on its main undercarriage legs with only one tailwheel off the ground. The orange paint is very slow drying which doesn't help but from a short distance away looks very bright.

The Weserflug P1003/1 has the props on. The box says 1/48 but it seems way too small. The canopy is a decent fit. The locating pin for the outer starboard wing got broken but it's not serious. The props are a tight fit.

Progress. MB12 on undercart and wheels. Just minor paint snags and decals to do. Perhaps see it for real at the IPMS Brampton show tomorrow.

It looks good in the photos and I can confirm that it looks even better when seen in person up close.

I am impressed by the day-glo orange, it really pops.

Had a bit of a modelling block perhaps loss of mojo this week, tbh.

But were or could the FAA Whirlwind helps armed with AS.12 ASM's?

In for refurbishment after being built some years back. RAF U2 in PRU blue. I was going to donate this to the give an old kit a new home at SMW2025 table but as it's in relatively good condition am keeping it and may build another in RAF colours.

Could do with longer wings Trevor.  ;D

Nice choice of serial though, smack in the middle of a blank series.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Dropping my phone this morning was a bad idea. Whilst it's away for repair this old handset gives me internet. Just started the last of my models for Telford a real U2 but am considering a further RAF whiffed one.
