Quote from: Dizzyfugu on September 04, 2025, 11:54:40 PMHardware work on the J 31B has begun!   What a PSR/Frankenstein mess...!
But I like what I (expect to) see.

I perceive a significant need for a project thread.. 😉

This will be launched soon.  ;D

This morning, despite having spent three days traveling for work, I dragged young Mr P out of his bed at daybreak (well, sort of, at least) and off we went to the nearest corresponding Swedish equivalent to Telford, the Art in Miniature show in Gothenburg. It's a nigh on three-and-a-half hour drive, one way, but we managed to get a full three hours at the show despite going back home this evening, and as the show is located within the quite nice Aeroseum facilities, i.e in the bedrock hangar tunnels of the old Göta Air Wing (F9), we took the opportunity to have a good look at a few old aircraft in full size as well as admiring some really nice plastic miniatures as well.

As the local IPMS chapter was selling surplus stash content for peanuts, I dragged home much too many models for myself, plus a shed load of decals, plus a reference book, so also from that perspective quite a nice day indeed.

Photos will follow, as well as the mandatory update of the Stash expansion thread, but not tonight, as seven hours of driving has left me a tad worse for wear, it seems.

Sounds like a GREAT day there. Well done.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Sounds like a great day  Mind you I wouldn't fancy that journey even as a passenger (I don't drive) so very well done. I hope the young Mr P appreciated your efforts. Plus you could always blame him during any interrogation that follows re the Stash increase  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Sounds like an exceptional day, to me!

Rather a crowded week, last one, and this weekend came and went in the jiffiest of a jiffy as well. I had an idea that I should have a look at some Draken painting, but I haven't even gotten round to play with the models, and certainly not with any brushes in hand.
Ah, well..  there'll be another day to paint.

What we did do was pop by a couple of car shops yesterday. As the significantly smarter (and better looking) half of the family has landed a new contract, she's due for a company car, only that it's supposed to be an all electric one. And I suppose it's time. That technology has really made a few leaps since I drove the Tesla Roadster back in the day. Now, we looked at a pair of large, seven seater AWD's and interestingly, one of them was even better on rough roads than our trusty (well, comparatively at least) Discovery, so maybe.. It would have been nice not to have to select between gray, gray and gray, though..

Food for thought, though.

You can get it any color you want, so long as its grey.

Closing off the day by whif surfing a bit, I'm realising that I'm probably delaying completion of ongoing projects by wasting time on researching not started ones. Like the jet SAAB B18, f.i. It might have served me better to focus on that painting, methinks..  :banghead:

I know that feeling of wanting to put off a part of a build that I find irksome or, more commonly, in which I doubt my abilities live up to my vision (& painting is one of those tasks)., & the various "logical" & "reasonable" alternative activities I find to delay the inevitable.

Just popping in to say hi. It's been another of those work-intensive periods, and it might continue for a few weeks more, unfortunately. That dream of becoming financially independent...

While not having done much real modelling during this stint, I have added a layer or two of paint on my Drakens, just to find out that the paint was a tad too thick to even out properly before drying. Annoyingly, but nothing some careful sanding couldn't sort, but that mean I'm basically back to square one again, painting wise. Or almost. The canopies are still good.

On another note, I was off to the west coast for a few days last week, among other things servicing the Discovery. Over here, good LR mechanics are few and far between, so when you find one, you stick to him like glue. Hence the one-way four-hour drive to his workshop. And while in the area, I visited a few friends and got invited for lobster fishing. The season is short and the secrets are many, but a good deck hand is always appreciated, but I seem to have been good enough to have earned my place on the boat as we're invited for the yearly lobster dinner later this autumn, Mrs P and I, once the season is over. Looking much forward to that!

But first, another couple of congested weeks lie ahead. And they need to be dealt with.

If I may extend your comment to " good mechanics of any sort are few and far between, so when you find one, you stick to him like glue."  I'm delighted that you have had such a productive and successful time!

I sympathise with the forthcoming  couple of weeks congestion in your diary. I've got a fortnight of that to come very shortly.
