The working alternator has now switched car, and lo and behold - it's working! Tomorrow, we'll see if the Disco is behaving or not. If it does, then what's remaining on that Defender is just reinstalling the seat (which is in the way for the battery) and then it's ready to go to the welders on Tuesday. Good stuff!

There's still hope for modelling tomorrow..

Sometimes I'm quite glad that I was never able to drive, and live in an area with a fairly decent public transport system

Hope you get things sorted out mate

The Discovery is still behaving, and the Defender is now ready for its welding session. That Suzuki youth car, however, is not yet entirely compliant. While having sorted the lighting issue, I also found out that the alternator isn't charging properly in that car either. Well - I most likely won't bother doing that myself, rather handing it over to the local garage. They're nice (they're the ones sorting that welding), and you have to have some interest in the vehicle itself to be bothered enough to go after it yourself.

Compensating for that, the eldest boyfriend showed up, wanting some assistance with an oil change on his BMW. Not complicated as such, but getting the damned thing off the ground enough to be able to drain the old oil was a chore! It's so bl***y low!
In the end, an improvised set of ramps sorted it, but God, the lad is a slow mechanic!

Also, the better half decided to get started with the Christmas decorations. While debatably early, I admit that, the weeks ahead are so full of work and travels, so this was basically the window we had together. So most of the figurines and other small stuff is there, together with the electric stars in the bedroom windows, and tomorrow I'll sort the candelabra in all the other windows. And I like it a lot. It makes this dark and dull season significantly more bearable, and I have no problems whatsoever to maintain a reasonable degree of Christmas spirit for a month plus.  None, I tell ya! ;D

Alas, no modelling. But I'll live.

Must admit I've always liked the "Scandanavian style" of decorations to the way we tend to do them here   Christmas to me begins when the tree goes up in Trafalgar Square, and it's been felled in Norway, so we are getting there

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

As some of you might know, us Swedes celebrate Christmas on the eve, not the day. There's undoubtedly a long story behind that, but for the time being, let's just say that this means that tonight is the night before Christmas, and with that the time when all preparations have to be complete, all presents wrapped and labeled and everything decorated. But also the evening when peace finally settles in. And that is so nice..
It's been a dog of an autumn, this one. Too much at work, not least for the amazoing Mrs P, but also too many unneccesary hickups in various matters that has consumed way too much energy and lust. But now, finally, I'm able to just hide in a large chair and pretend the world doesn't exist. Now, I have a few weeks of time off, actually, so besides hanging out with my best people, I also plan to actually have a look at completing the odd Draken or two. They have been sitting on my table for quite some time now..

Merry Christmas to all and everyone, and may peace find you well and truly.

What they all said!  Joyeux Noel!

Thanks a lot, all of you.

It has been a rather nice Christmas. I managed to leave work behind, after all, we even got just a tad of snow, at least formally making this a white Christmas. Partly from that, Christmas Eve became exactly as magical as you would like, and after everything was unpacked, admired and eaten, we closed the day at midnight mass in our medieval church, the one that's been hosting two coronations, back in the day. A lovely service, as every year, an a very nice way to connect backwards in time.
Since then, days have been slow, focused entirely on family and friends (the close variety, that is) and really not much else. We may have consumed the Christmas ham (we don't do turkey up here) somewhat sooner than expected so we have sorted a new one that hopefully will last over new years, at least. That said, a thick slice of ham topped by a reasonably hot mustard and all placed on a piece of rye bread.. well, let's just say that there is a certain pace at which some provisions disappear..

Also, weather has been unexpectedly nice, so the dog has been getting a bit more exercise that he might be used to, not that he's complaining.

In other matters, I can reveal some actual modelling activity has occurred! I have gotten on painting a bit more on the Drakens, all five of them, even, and further, I have started some minor refurbishment of an old Heller AJ37 Viggen in order to bring it up to date and accuracy. Well - within reason, that is, of course. The plan, if there is one, is to get the Drakens done before I have to get back to work on the eighth of next month, and that may still be possible.

But that's not for tonight. Now, towards bed and tomorrow morning, I'm due for my triweekly injection of cancer retardant. It's an expensive habit, that one, amounting to about £3.500 a shot, so it's rather nice to be living in a high tax community. Not that I ever have complained about that, but one wishes more people could have drawn similar conclusions. Then again, these days, I'm rather apparently partial to the matter, am I not?
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

So a good result in all respects - nice.
