Quote from: Pellson on August 17, 2025, 02:49:01 AMNot in any way questioning the home decoration traditions in different countries as such, but wouldn't it be simpler just having a more solid floor surface in the model corner, at least? IKEA has a plastic sheet, about 3x4.5 ft big, intended to smooth things for a roller chair.

Now why didn't I think of that, or at least something similar  :banghead:  :banghead:

Thanks

You've got an IKEA in Croydon - pop down there now!!

Yea, but it's a bus, tram and then a bit of a slog. Nowhere, other than IKEA it'self to grab a coffee or a pint. All the old pubs around that way (my dad was born just down the road) are long gone  :-\  I have to be in the "right" mood.

That's not good. Many years ago, when my sisters had moved to London, I was given directions on how to meet one of them for lunch, which consisted of Pubs as landmarks for taking turns etc.

It's still possible to direct people via pub, especially in more central and/or fashionable areas. Otherwise do it by coffee shop/fast food restraunt

Office supply store near by?  Those mats also tend to be sold there too.

Nope, but I stuck my head in our local hardware store this morning as I needed some drain unblocker and he said he could get one for me, and the price was ok, so it's ordered.

We are lucky to still have a proper hardware store up the Palace.

Meanwhile progress on the H-75 continues, indeed I now have a complete airframe and am contemplating it's colour scheme. I know the AF she's intended for, just need to confirm I have the transfers.

It's a superb kit, if perhaps slightly over engineered, but the fit is exemplary. Indeed if something doesn't fit, it's you, not the kit. Most of the major parts slot into place whilst test fitting and stay there, simply needing some glue running down the join. Only possible issue is that the slightest bit of paint on a matting surface will effect the fit. Nothing drastic and easy to fix though.

I've a couple of their kits in the stash and may get the Mustang down for my next relaxing build, real world 112 squadron markings. I'm also very tempted to pick up the USAAC P.36 A boxing of this kit.

That would be a heck of a safari going from Crystal Palace to Ikea by public transport.  You'd need three or four native bearers to carry the essential provisions.

Living almost on top of Addiscombe Tramlink stop we could get to the Ikea industrial park area by tram.  I have fond memories of buying a stepladder in Homebase and then bringing it home on the Tram.
