Have been meaning to try using a sponge in a tray, will give it a go and report.

I use a wet sponge in a tray.  Works great.

Cool! Thanks.

Made a little bit of progress yesterday afternoon, but to hot for much serious work.

Anyway, talking of the Arma Hobby transfer "spares", here's the left over parts from the AZ Me 109 H

If you buy one of their two-seat trainers, you end up with spare fuselages as well. You may have to buy a canopy and an interior, but if you have an eduard 109 that will give you the spare clear parts.

Must admit my mind had wandered off in that direction, and yes I do have a couple of Eduard late 109's

And, if you don't mind the money, there are enough after-market Bf.109 cockpit sets you can get.

80 years ago today Dad's war came to an end, he was in the British Pacific Fleet somewhere off the coast of Japan. He'd survived 6 years, many didn't and we should never forget that.

In memory of him and all the others from across the then Empire and Commonwealth here's a shot of him and his then shipmates in their whites taken in S Africa before he did his AAA training and then joined the fleet on it's way to the Pacific. He's top left hand corner.

Definitely a day to remember Chris, yes.

I was around at the time of course but I can't remember anything of the occasion, but my Mum said it was pretty riotous in Croydon.  ;D

Like so many others, my Dad's war ended on VE Day, although for several weeks after he was busy patrolling the Morgan Line.  Essentially a 'peacekeeping' role, ensuring it didn't all kick off again in the Trieste region.  Which was a very real possibility.

At the same time, elements of his unit were being prepped to be shipped out east.  I recall him saying that prospect filled all with dread.

Well the 109 has had its matt coat and now I just need to gloss the nav' lights and fit her prop', which always signifies the (to miss-quote Norma Desmond)  "well that's it I'm ready for my photos now", the final stage of most of my builds. Maybe that's why I don't do many jets ? I can't figure out the almost symbolic final stage they all share ?

I've also made some progress on the H-75 and had one of those "what the" moments whilst doing so. I was looking at the undercarriage and it's rather  complicated doors arrangement (the Curtis engiineers must have been on a hell of a bender the night before when they came up with that one  :drink: ) when one of the parts pinged off into space. So I got down on my hands and knees and scoured the carpet as one does for a good 5 minutes or so, but could I find it ? Like hell, although I found a few other long lost bits. So I returned to my seat, oh my knees, and noticed some dust and other bits and bobs attached to my elbow. On removing them I found one of which was the missing part

Gotta love the Universe's wicked sense of humour!

But, still, it's a "Win!" moment, you found the part!

Indeed!

As to the Jet Issue, maybe the moment you insert the Red intake plugs?

It would be the ideal moment, if they were included in the kit. Maybe the pitot ?

Not in any way questioning the home decoration traditions in different countries as such, but wouldn't it be simpler just having a more solid floor surface in the model corner, at least? IKEA has a plastic sheet, about 3x4.5 ft big, intended to smooth things for a roller chair. While not having a carpet in my office/hobby room, I have such a sheet to allow my chair to move easier than on the old and quite uneven floorboards, est'd in 1792 AD. As an added benefit, when I lose something (and I do, you can bet your life on that!), I most often easily find it by shining a torch along the sheet, the light making an ever so minuscule part stand out like a beacon in a stormy night.

Solid Plan!
Yeah, shadows are a funny thing - but we can use that.

Now why didn't I think of that, or at least something similar  :banghead:  :banghead:

Thanks
