I've read all of the "Falco" books by  Lindsey Davis. They're great!

Quote from: Rheged on August 10, 2025, 11:06:08 AMRoman epicures enjoyed something called a"Trojan Hog"      A sucking pig, spit roast, but before serving; hot sausages  crammed into the body cavity and then sewn in.    When it was carved at table, the sausages gushed out looking like viscera.

The novelist Lindsey Davis (whose works are well worth reading)  has a rather  good description in her book  "Nemesis"  https://lindseydavis.co.uk/

I've read something about that somewhere, can't remember where at the moment, but I have read a couple of works Lindsey Davis.

Anyway, no modelling yesterday. Cracking day out with Nick and Dave (Kitbasher) off the site. Couple of pints in the 10 Bells opposite Spittlefields Market and then curry in Brick Lane

Sorry, mate, not working for me.  :(

I'll come back in a few hours to see if they appear - that seems to be a thing.

Meanwhile work continues on the 109 and H-75. The 109 now has it's paintwork completed, bar touch-ups, and I've applied the more visable stencils. The others are way beyond my eyesight's capabilities nowadays  :-\ The H-75 has had some more cockpit details painted and that area is now ready for its transfers.

As an aside, when using AZ transfers be aware of the fact that they leave the backing paper virtually upon contact with water. Leave them for 5 seconds or more and you will be fishing them out.

That's why i stopped dipping the decals in the water and instead i lay the decals on my cutting mat, although any impermeable surface will do, and then i just use a pipette or a paint brush to drop the needed amount of water to cover the decal itself. It's easier to control decals that come off quickly because you can just use a paper tissue to soak up the excess water without touching the decal after it's loose from the backing paper.

Nice tip, thanks.

I dip mine for a few seconds (usually a quick 10-count) and then onto a paper towel.
Have been meaning to try using a sponge in a tray, will give it a go and report.

But some decals require SERIOUS soaking to get them to just come slightly loose. The problem is you can't tell which sort are which just by looking at them!

I use a wet sponge in a tray.  Works great.

I've got one of those Trumpeter decal baths with a slotted tray in it. You can just get the decal out of the water by lifting the whole tray (which sits securely out of the water as well as in it) rather than "fishing" with tweezers/fingers/cocktail sticks.

As an aside, I wonder what proportion of the cocktail sticks sold in the world are actually used for cocktails? I presume some are, but I see them being sold in bulk in a range of outlets that don't strike me as the haunts of cocktail drinkers...

I buy wooden toothpicks.  But I think they are the same thing.  Certainly look the same.  Every so often I use one to pick my teeth.  Maybe 1 in 100...

Meanwhile the H-75 has had it's cockpit transfers added. 12 of them all together and to their credit Arma provide duplicates of all the cockpit transfers and all of the smaller exterior ones as well
