I see Airfix are re-popping some of their WWI kits, inc. this one. The struts and rigging for this still give me nightmares

Mind you it's quite appropriate as I'm currently reading First Blitz which is about the Zepplin and bomber raids on London in WWI. Mainly about the bomber raids but some interesting stuff on the earlier ones.

I see they are also coming out with a range of masks for their kits.

Having said that, Revell have also just launched a flowers range, so Airfix might feel that the market's overcrowded now.

The Revell sets are laser cut wooden kits. Probably intended as a foil to Airfix's announcement, but not a showstopper on their own. Scented too!  ;D

Funnily enough the latest workbench just came out showcasing the BE2c and the E.III Eindecker.

I have a PE rigging set for the BE2c.  I'll be interested to try it out to see if it's easier than elastic line.

That only means that another company sees a potential market - look at how many Spitfire and Bf-109 kits are out there...

And I wonder whether the 'scent' is of burnt plywood?   ;D

I've seen models that have been finished with them in the past, but no experience with them whatsoever. My days of rigging are long gong  :-\

The Revell flowers have an " ... integrated scent ring ... ".
🤔
I wonder if they'll do Amorphophallus titanum.
🤣

In regards to the flower kits, it may be related to Hornby's ongoing financial issues.

They sold Scalectrix in February, went private in March and are in the midst of being
"transformed" under the direction Sports Direct tycoon Mike Ashley, the biggest stockholder,
and in January it looked like Hornby was probably going to default on a private loan from
Ashley. Of course they blamed "regulatory requirements".

Huge queues form when they flower so maybe there is a market?

Repost from the "My Stash Grew 2026" thread:

The oversize SR.N4 box.

The tray part of the box is about 19.5 inches long and 12 inches wide.

1. This is the longest sprue in the tray. It's about 4 inches shorter than the inside length of the tray:

2. This is the widest sprue in the tray. Many parts are off the sprues, but I believe this still shows the maximum width accurately. It's about 2 inches narrower than the width of the tray:

3. These are the roof panel and the floor plate in the box. The skirt would make the overall dimension about 3/4 inch wider all around, but I still think you could fit TWO of the finished models in the tray sideways (not height-wise: the depth is about right):

Skyvan video just went up. Looks like they're including one of the old schemes and one of the crazy skydiving club ones:

i remember seeing that wierd color scheme at a regional airport here a number of years ago, but the camo was grey, same crazy mouth art,
looks like we're getting new props in this reissue,

I am tempted by a sky an, I have one lined up for the Honduras air force, so I would like another one to serve in Africa. Are the new props more modern ones?

MT seven blade props for SC.7 Series 3 with Honeywell (Garret) TPE331-2-201A.
MT Silent 7

Very gratifying that the Airfix crew paid such close attention.

Actually, we're NOT getting new props. At least, not unless you have a 3D printer. There's a, note on the colour diagram that says the five & seven bladed props are available as files to download for printing..

Personally, I think that particular scheme is hideous but, thats just me. I wouldn't opt for it anyway but, I'm not really impressed by Airfix effectively limiting that option(for those fussy about accuracy at least) to anyone who owns or, has access to a 3D printer.

I think that spoils somewhat this otherwise very welcome reissue. Again though, that's just a personal view
