Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well, predictably, the Airfix "New Year" sale has started

Details here: LINK AHOY!

Discounts of up to 50%.

Bear in mind that if a) the discount's under 33%, AND b) you want at least three models, AND c) you can buy from Hobbycraft, then Hobbycraft's 3-for-2 offer might get you a better deal. See my post on the Hobbycraft thread about how that works for online orders. A bit of careful maths plus strategic ordering can make a big difference here, especially if you're spending a lot of money.

And, almost equally predictable, there's nothing there I want (that I haven't already got.) Still, I guess we know which items will be getting discontinued for a while.

Well, I see that the Airfix "big announcement" is due 14th January. Going by previous years I fully expect another triumph of hype over substance so, I'm not getting my hopes up  for anything startling.

At least that way I won't
be disappointed. I could  be wrong of course which, would be a bonus. 😉😂. I'll leave the feeding frenzy of speculation and wish listing to others!

Gosh, wow........................  :-\
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

interesting reactions - more Airfix-bashing?

Revell's relese progreamme as announced at Telford was to me as dull as ditchwater but hey, didn't come in for any flak.

Revell's planned 1/72 Bf109E release?  Again no flak for yet another '109.

So let's be a bit more generous to Airfix, playmates.

Hey, at least they're still releasing models!

And, as I can't afford anything in "God's Own Scale" (1:1), I'll settle for "God's Authorised Alternative Modelling Option" (1:48)!  ;D

The Rat

1/72nd Avro CF-100? We really need one, the Hobbycraft kits are rarer every minute.

1/72nd Fairey Albacore? Because I'm crazy.

1/48th Airspeed Oxford? It would complement the Anson.

1/48th Rolls-Royce Thrust Measuring Rig? "Dad, is this a part, or just a bit of sprue?"

1/350th HMS Dreadnought 1906? Because my daughter is having twins, and they need bath toys.

Well the re-release of the 1/72 H.S./BAe Nimrod R.1 is way overdue but something like the BAC 1-11 in 1/72 scale would be appreciated.
They hinted about the Avro Lincoln B.2 but I'm more inclined to go with the Avro Shackleton MR.3, hoping that Revell will release the MR.1 in plastic.
Then there's the 1/72 North American RA-5C, its still popular so could be in the Classic Release series.
With the new James Bond film, I hope that they re-release or new versions of some of the old stuff.
Shouldn't be too difficult for a Westland Wildcat in 1/48 scale.
A de Havilland Rapeed or Dragon Fly,or even the Land Rover forward control vehicle in 1/35 scale.

Revell's 2026 releases in general, and the 109 in particular, have got both praise and flak over on the relevent thread.

I desperately WANT Airfix to do well. Every year I hold out hope that they will do. I'm usually disappointed to a greater or lesser extent and that reflects, hopefully proportionately, in my praise and criticism.

Gondor

The Meteor has done quite well, partly due to the number of operators it had, so something similar would be nice, and I don't mean do it as a Mk.4, which is a version missing from the market at the moment.

What would I like to see from Airfix this year? Hmm, It's not so much that I want anything very much desperately, but there are some holes in their range, and the range of kits generally available, that they could usefully plug.

Re "got the CAD" notes: yes I know it's not as easy as hitting the "select scale" button, but it's still better than starting from scratch.

New tool in 1/72nd:
Fairey Albacore (good suggestion Ratty!)
Avro CF-100 (ditto)
Avro Lincoln
Westland Whirlwind HAR.10 turbine helicopter (I mean, they've done the Wessex...)
DH Sea Vixen (Got the CAD)
Gloster Javelin (Got the CAD)

New tool in 1/76th:
Some or all of the CVR(T) range
Ferret (got the CAD)
FV432 (the S&M one is gone and the Takom one is hideously expensive)

New tool in 1/700th:
Leander class frigates - modular kit engineered to build many versions from several boxings
HMS Bristol (I can dream...)

Vintage Classics:
1/144th BAC 111
1/72nd Army Lynx
1/72nd OV-10D Bronco
1/72nd Cessna O-2A
1/72nd Britten Norman Islander
1/72nd Shorts Skyvan

Gondor

Airfix did do the Scorpion in 1/76 if memory serves, so that could go in the Classics, otherwise I like, mostly. Your 1/700 is not a scale they do, and in 1/350 would be better, which is a scale they have done already.
