I'm afraid that Airfix doing any large airliner in 1/72 is just wishful thinking. When I was an active member of the Airliner SIG we suggested to them that doing a Comet 4 should be fairly easy as they'd done some of the design already with the Nimrod. But they said there just wasn't the market for 1/72 airliners to warrant the outlay on the tooling.

You do know Trumpeter do two 1/350 Dreadnoughts, right, Rattus?

1907 & 1918 ... I have both.

My wish is that Airfix would put out a 1/350 Black Swan class sloop (preferrable both original & modified).

This is for two reasons;

1) It was one of, if not the most successful ASW ship class of WW2, &
2) in memory of Captain Frederic John ("Johnny") Walker, CB, DSO & Three Bars (3 June 1896 – 9 July 1944).

Yes, but 1/700th is the industry standard for small scale ships. They should give up on 1/600th for new tools.

Everyone geared up for the sheer disappointment of the forthcoming Airfix announcement?

Quote from: kitbasher on December 30, 2025, 06:13:24 AMinteresting reactions - more Airfix-bashing?

Revell's relese progreamme as announced at Telford was to me as dull as ditchwater but hey, didn't come in for any flak.

Revell's planned 1/72 Bf109E release?  Again no flak for yet another '109.

So let's be a bit more generous to Airfix, playmates.

I promise to be generous to  Airfix when they show it's been earned. Unfortunately, year on year of lacklustre announcements not living up to the hype preceding them has somewhat coloured my judgement.

From what I've seen already, The recent Revell announcement at Telford has attracted praise and criticism so, I don't know that it's accurate to say it hasn't attracted any flak.

There was a lot of interest to me personally in the Revell announcement and, they will get a lot of my money in 2026. "Dull as ditch water" is how I would personally characterise the the last 3 - 4 Airfix yearly programmes but, we're all different in that respect. Definitely a case of horses for courses! 😉😊

Now i've got the makings of a one true scale Lincoln (BII Lanc plus Blackbird conversion kit plus Red Roo extras) Airfix will undoubtedly announce a Lincoln.
Unless they are waiting until I actually cut plastic?

I will ask for the same things I ask for every year - the 1/16 Motorcycles and the 54mm figures as Vintage Classics.

Not from Airfix.  They've burnt their bridges there with me.  No, someone like Clear Prop or Dora Wings need to step up to the Rotodyne plate now.

Hmmm! 1/700 is a scale too small for me. I agree with giving up the 1/600 dinosaur scale but, anything smaller than 1/350 would not  convince me to build ships.

So... 1/72 Spitfire, because.... Spitfire  ;D

1/72 Scimitar or Vixen. We have the Phantom, Buccaneer, Gannet and various Choppers, I think jet wise those are the two big holes along with maybe the Attacker.

1/76 tanks from the Academy catalogue with whom they have a link I believe?

Some new 1/144 or 1/200 airliners would be nice, particularly the Comet, 1-11 and 727

No doubt some re-pops which some people will complain about because they're not new.

1/72 Javelin would also go down well too I think.
