My late Uncle Bill skippered an RAF motor launch after his tour on 550 Sqn.  Dad always maintained it was an ASR lunch - I know where Bill was when skippering and they operated ASR launches, but as it was RAF Castle Archdale it may not have been an ASR type.  Anyway, it'll go nicely with the Airfix Lanc I really must get done in 2026.

There was a conversion article in an old Airfix Magazine to turn the ASR Whaleback into an MASB or similar. Basically shortening the superstructure and thereby increasing the length of the foredeck.

Volume 3 of Allied Coastal Forces was going to cover the British Power Boats designs. Unfortunately, Al Ross died before it could be completed. John Lambert kept going with research and doing drawings but there's no status on when it may be published, if ever.

Inter alia the Naval Institute Press currently has both volumes on sale at $12.79 each. No clue on shipping costs outside of the US but probably $$$. Overseas sales are suspended until August 8, they're switching over to Ingram Publishing Services for order fulfillment and warehousing, Ingram has a large presence globally so it may make their publications more accessible outside of the US.

Allied Coastal Forces Vol 1, Fairmile and US Subchasers

Allied Coastal Forces Vol 2, ELCO and Vosper

Latest podcast is all about the new Wessex kit, and so is next week's as well.

Headline: it's due in stock at the end of this month, or beginning of next month.
