Quote from: Weaver on July 05, 2025, 09:52:55 AMOooh, this is interesting: Airfix have just put a video up on Youtube doing a walkaround of an Avro Lincoln at the RAF Museum. Now why would they do that, unless they were, at least, gauging interest in a kit, or maybe even because they were there to laser-scan it and what to pre-hype the announcement? Assuming that's the case, I've left them a very encouraging comment, and it wouldn't hurt if other people did the same (hint, hint...).

Surely the name of the RAF's most overlooked bomber is spelt M A N C H E S T E R?

Yeah, myself and several others mentioned that in the comments.

Quote from: McColm on Yesterday at 11:29:58 AMSo there's hope of them providing the Avro Shackleton MR.1 if they produce the Lincoln?

No. The Shackleton MR.1 has a completely different fuselage to a Lincoln. The engine pods and fronts are different as well. In fact, the only common things between the Lincoln and Shacklton MR.1 were basically the wings, mid-upper turret and tail turret, at least on the prototype.
Airfix has done the MR.2 and AEW.2 so the MR.1 would mean changing the nose, engines and rear tail. The radar moved to under the nose as well although this might be an easier option for the Revell AEW.2 as the nose is a separate part to the rest of the fuselage.

No, your wrong about the engines. You asked about getting a Shackleton MR.1 from a Lincoln. The engines were the same for all the Shackleton's, the nasals are different between the Lincoln and all Shackleton's.
Yes, the nose and tail would have to be changed but No, the radar was a different radar so you can't use the one in the AEW kit if you want to do a real MR.1
There was a conversion set that was produced by Ally Cat, so they are out of production I believe.

Thanks for the information.

I always thought that was the Short SA.4 Sperrin.
