Jeez Chris, how much did you pay Tom to write that post?? 😉😂

On a more serious note, as Chris says, the 'terrible kit' suggestion is way too subjective a call.  But Steven l - and following the lead of other forums (fora?) - a possible GB theme could be 'whif anything from manufacturer (insert name)'.

The challenge then of course is deciding which manufacturer.  To encourage participation I'd suggest that would have to be a mainstream producer of widely available kits.

Just a thought, not suggesting it as a GB theme.  But were I to do so I'd go with either Airfix or Revell (extensive ranges, readily available, I don't think they would be prohibitively priced (generally speaking, although I recall posts from the antipodean whiferati that prices down south can be pretty steep) and/or they'll already feature in stashes).

As long as we get to vote on the manufacturer.

Chris is now like  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead: NO! NOT MORE VOTING! :banghead:
Fred

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

If it's too controversial, I'll withdraw the suggestion. I think that there's enough to get at least a top ten to vote on.

It's do-able

Does it have to be a single manufacturer? We could come up with a small list. Challenging kit may be a better word and avoid the lawyers getting on Chris's case.  ;D

With most of the more challenging manufacturers, there's a few diamonds in the rough.

A few ideas for manufacturers:
Mach 2
Smer
KP/Kopro/Kovozovady Prostejov
PM Model
Mikro-Mir
Eastern Express/Novo
Mistercraft

I think the (revised) idea is to drop the "crap kit" part and just have a single manufacturer.
In which case it's better to have one with a wide range of subjects (Airfix, Revell, Tamiya, etc) as it will make for a more interesting selection of builds.

After building my RW Spitfire PR1C I'd add IBG!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

How about a Secret Service GB where we aim to produce something that would be at home in a Bond flick (or similar.) Something as outrageous as an Aston Martin with an ejector seat, a jet fighter that folds into a horsebox, or a lotus that goes underwater? Or indeed an AMC that can sprout wings and fly away, an enormous laser hidden in the back of an ambulance, a portacabin that unfurls into a dirigible, or a miniature submarine for escaping an oil rig? Or even just some airfix figures painted up in orange jumpsuits to play the role of evil henchmen?
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

DeeBob

Getting greedy, what about GBs aimed at those nations seen less often in model form? Such as an Italian GB, French GB, Spanish GB? Or maybe more broadly just a NOT British, German, Russian or American GB

I like that idea. 'Rest of the World' GB?
Alternatively, anything but NATO and Warsaw Pact?

I'll second this one.

And this one.

This one would be a nice change. I think I have some Mexican Air Force decals.
Take an old US/RN cruiser or destroyer or frigate and stick post-WW2 weapons and electronics on, as was done many a time.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Suggestions seem to have tailed off, therefore I may bring the closure date for suggestions forward to Saturday 23rd May, a week today.

Andrew Gorman

I'm starting to appreciate  the Airliners idea as a niche not a lot of people build.

kerick

Finish your oldest kit from the shelf of doom GB. Kind of self explanatory.
