Rejoined the Airfix Club for this year, so the controversial Flygvapnet 100 Viggen plus Tiger Moth Club Kit just dropped through my door.

For those who don't know, it's the old Airfix prototype Viggen moulding in the all-red-with-cartoon-ghosts "The Show Must Go On" scheme from 2000. That aircraft was most certainly not a prototype, and the differences are significant and difficult to fix. Most people's first thought was to use the decals on an accurate Viggen (Heller or Special Hobby, although you can buy the latter with those decals in the box for no extra money), and build the Airfix one as the unpainted prototype. However Airfix have made even that problematic by moulding the damned thing in bright red plastic... :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Just to make things "perfect", the Tiger Moth is moulded in bright yellow plastic to suit its red+yellow trainer scheme, with, oddly, black+white three-crowns roundels instead of blue+yellow ones.

The first thing that occurs to me is to paint a Phantom red and use the decals on it. There should be enough room to use both the ghosts and the black+white roundels from the Tiger Moth on it. Another thing I note is that the Tiger Moth's tail is vertically banded red+yellow+blue, but because the red stretches forward along the fuselage, the tail decal is just yellow+blue, which is Ukrainian colours... Tiger Moth drone killer anyone? ;D

If the Club Kit was the only reason to join, I'd honestly have skipped it this year. However their 2026 new releases are pretty good and I've got a ton of Flying Hours to spend, so I eventually went for it. I also used Hobby Rewards Points to buy the membership, so it only cost me about £17.50 in real money.

Had a look in the model shop yesterday and had a root around the second hand box, and grabbed some weapons sets, hasegawa set 1,2 and 4, and the italeri NATO weapons set, for 15 quid. They also had three different dragon Soviet weapons sets, and a couple of 48th scale hasegawa sets in too.

They certainly are, I have a few of them already, I am going back today to look at them, for a friend of mine in Fife, and if complete I will buy them for him.

You and me both mate. I've had a few problems with them   Try to avoid them as much as possible even if it means paying extra postage

But hard to find.

Today I went back to get the three dragon Soviet weapons sets. All three are complete and one has some. Additional sprues from a kit included. I got all three for £25, my buddy in Scotland should be pleased with them.

Easy large enough for TWO Vigis at the same time.  :o
I have actually put the monogram box inside with the frog kit. Also, it has a price tag on the side stating 15/0d....
