I was having a thought about building a twin seat A-10 Thunderbolt II and after a wee bit of hunting it turns out that a real one had been built  :o
Then i thought that this might not be that hard a build but then i found this ,,,Hobbyboss 1:48 N/Aw A-10A Thunderbolt II ,,,didn't even know this kit existed...so i bought one and best of all ,,it was on special with $35 notes off
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I have two of their 72 scale ones, one in the stash, one built and painted as a USMC bird in NATO green black and brown camouflage. I don't think the kit had any problems, and went together nice.

I built one way back when. I used an F-14 Tomcat canopy and the regular A-10 windscreen. It was pretty easy for my beginning whif skills. I've still got it.
One RW two seater was built and has spent its time at Edwards AFB as a test bird.

First kit of the new year is the "new" Academy SHAR in 144. Same crappy kit, new box. I will post over in the Academy thread as well, for folks that might be wondering.

That did raise one question Chris mate ,, what or how am i going to paint this up ,, was thinking maybe a RAF one paint in Desert Storm colours ,,that would be different  ;D

Great minds and all that Ken  ;D
Was going to do pretty much the exact same thing but using a twin seat FA-18 Hornet canopy for the job ,,then i found this one and now an FA-18 is saved  ..well save for the time being anyway

It's a tad dusty but you can see the paint job OK. USMC COIN and forward air controller

The A-10 was offered to the Marines but they rejected it. It didn't leak enough!

You mean this one?

Officially, the Republic Night/Adverse Weather A-10 (YA-10B) was a two-seat experimental prototype, for work at night and in bad weather. The one YA-10B prototype was converted from an A-10A.

I thought about buying one but, well, halving the ammo supply for a machine that's all about the BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT! seemed a bit pointless.  ;D  ;)

Yep..that's the one ,,, when i had the thought about building one i do what we normally do ,,had a hunt ,,quite surprised to find out that is real ,,then found a vid on it and watched it ..yep ,,one of a kind and wasn't excepted dew to targeting systems becoming more advanced and in the end this bird just wasn't needed .which is a shame but when you have aircraft like the F-15 Strike Eagle to play with for pretty much the exact same job i can see where they are coming from .

Quote from: Pellson on February 19, 2026, 04:37:56 PMMight have bought yet another Heller Viggen, just because it was ridiculously cheap.

I did also snatch a KP Su-7BKL. It was reasonably inexpensive but most importantly, a bit rare these days. So I just thought better safe than sorry..

It's currently available - or at least was until recently - in a Smer box.  I bought one as a fuselage donor.

I have to buy them internationally, unfortunately, and either the freight or the brexit related taxes are killing the deal.. So 2nd hand it is..  :-\

..aaaand just there, yet another Su-7 popped up on the local evilbay, and given above, I felt consistency demanded action.
On the flip side, I have not been able to decide whether to make the first one Polish or Czech, and now that trouble is no more, obviously.. 😉
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
