I reached for the masking tape today to mask off the metal panels (have I mentioned I hate masking) but then hesitated.  I decided to give it a day or two more for the Gauzy Coat to dry before I subject it to tape.

Whirlwind wing was a proof of concept for the Hurricane's eight gun wing.  It was only a year ahead of the Hurricane which quickly eclipsed it thus explaining why it has been forgotten.

As did the Hawker Typhoon Mk IA. Interestingly Hawkers built a set of wings for the Typhoon which mounted 6 x 20mm cannon, but these were never matted with a fuselage as far as I'm aware.

More than trialled, Kit - fitted as standard.

However.....some units in the Far East (certainly in 1942 in the defence of Ceylon) offloaded 4 of them to save weight/gain speed.  12 deemed unnecessary against Japanese aircraft, in many respects structurally less robust than German aircraft.

IIRC the XII was the Canadian-built Hurricane IIB
