Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Absolutely

The Wooksta!

It's nice but I don't like the trousers, simply because they don't look British enough.  And the roundels should not be on the control surfaces - they were fitted as balanced units and any extra paint would throw them off.

Thanks all.

More Gauzy coat today so the transfers shine matches the rest.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

But we have 'history' for using the word 'spats' here in the Forum, developed by the late Great Brian da Basher.

Aren't spats basically just covering the wheels and trousers covering the entire strut like a vertical stabilizer that's out of place?

That's my understanding.

One would look pretty silly wearing spats without any pants.

Maybe by the time Hurricanes were rolling off the production line, but this is earlier.

They needed nice BIG roundels so the enemy could easily aim for the point between them before they opened fire. :(

Thus the logic of the Polish asymmetric 'squarals'

"Honey" ? Bees or Mr's to do list ?

This time of year at this latitude it's Pickle and Chutney time  ;D

The "Honey-Do" List can be the bane of the Modellers' existence...
Akin to the "Brother-/Son-Do" List... :banghead:

Hawker Whirlwind.

Hawker Whirlwind. - 18 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

1934.  Rolls Royce have reached a point in Merlin development where it has become clear that the then fashionable evaporative cooling system is not going to work and they need to use a conventional liquid cooling system.
When approached for a second Hart to use as a flying test bed Hawker suggested that instead the engine be installed into an all new airframe.  The logic behind this was that it would enable them to test fly other developments with Rolls Royce footing some of the bill.

1935.  The resulting aircraft is named the Hawker Whirlwind.  A low wing, open cockpit monoplane with fixed, trousered undercarriage it plays a role in Hawkers development of the four gun wing and the variable pitch propeller.  It proves to be a very pleasant and forgiving aircraft to fly, ideal for use as an interim mount for those changing from biplane fighters to the forthcoming Hawker Hurricane.

1936.  Enough Whirlwinds are produced to equip two squadrons.  These equip fighter squadrons  prior to them being re-equipped with Hurricanes.  Once all Hurricanes have been rolled out the Whirlwinds are withdrawn to training units.

The aircraft pictured is as it was when 19(F) Squadron were transitioning from Bristol Bullldogs to Hawker Hurricanes.
