Have to have something to keep them company.
And some things to try the new materials and tools out on... ;D

Well, I am hoping that eduard will bring out their 1/72 Bf 109K boxings, I might just pick up one of their P-51s as well. There is also the A & A four-seater Spad that I would buy if available, and you never know what might be there as well?

Earlier this evening I had a quick look at the SH and Eduard websites.  The Eduard Overtrees prices are, frankly, mad and it's worth picking up an Overtrees kit (e.g. Spitfire IX) as a source of spare parts alone!

That said, an Overtrees MiG-21 is tempting.

If you happen to be passing the NZ SIG stand, say 'Hi' to Dave Stewart for me.  <_<

I picked up some Overtrees boxings last year, some for Lee, some for me, including a Spitfire and Mustang boxing and all I can say is  :o  and that's before you get to the price. Be aware however that they sell out early. Also they don't have any instructions, although you can download them from their site.

What's an 'Overtree boxing'?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

An Eduard kit in a plain box with a label telling you which kit.  Just the plastic, no decals, PE, resin, masks, instructions.  Fantastic for spares or using up decals.
IIRC there's several non-kit items too.

Check them out on the Eduard website - prices must be pre-tax.

Not if it's Dave Stewart from Hatfield and the North and National Health (sorry, 1970s throwback time).

Think you mean National Express... ;D

I was thinking of asking him if he's got any plans to work with Annie Lennox again the future...

Special Hobby and AZ do similar things as well. Basically, due to unit order quantities between the plastic moulder, the decal printer, the instructions/box printer and the etch producer not lining up, they end up with more plastic than decals, so they sell it off cheap. Printing costs, especially for decals, are a greater part of the cost of a mass produced kit than the plastic is these days, so it always tends to be plastic that's surplus.

AZ sometimes put two or three sets of sprues in a box with no decals and call it a "Joy Pack"... ;D

I find that, especially with the eduard kits, there are so many nice options provided in the full boxings, that overtrees are useful in providing the plastic to go with a second or third decal option.

The other thing to note about the Overtrees boxings is the price.

Stupidly low.  ;D The Hellcat I got at Telford was £8.65. One of the reasons they sell out early. Interestingly Eduards' Telford pricings can be lower than their website's, especially on the Sunday.
