Quote from: perttime on September 07, 2025, 12:42:31 AMThose prop blades should cope with quite a bit of power.
Yes Sir that they will do ..zero ideas on just how much power mind you  but it's gonna be abit for sure  ;D
Quote from: NARSES2 on September 07, 2025, 01:28:34 AMYou sure those props are big enough ?  ;)  ;D
Chris they look kinda big eh but  ;)  ..there only slightly larger the original B-17 props but 4mm or so ..think cause there's just so many if  😆
Quote from: Gondor on September 07, 2025, 03:20:40 AMThat is some very ambitious kit-bashing. It looks like it will turn out well too.
It's so good soo far at this point point Al ...things are working out nicely 👌
Quote from: Old Wombat on September 07, 2025, 04:46:39 AMThey look half-way to being axial turbo-props.  ;)
Considering what I've done to em now mate you could be right  ;D.
I was looking at em yesterday and I was thinking something is missing so I had a play and I think you'll like what I've been up to
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Thanks Rick mate 😀
Yeah..this is moving along great now .
The real PSR is going to start soon-ish..it's already begun in small doses just to get a base layer down so I can build off that 😉 😀

PSR has takin place and yep ,,more has already happened ,,,I'm happy that i have finally sorted out how the rear of the fuselage looks ,,it's been a bane of this build for a wee while cause of trying to smooth the B-24s wing mounts into the 17's fuselage..so far so good  ;D
Here's what this looks like at the mo ..first off the wings with there second layer of putty and yep ,,,one tube of gray Tamiya putty is already history ,,alone with half of what was remaining of white putty .

There's just one pic of the fuselage at the mo as its still quite away from looking good .

Much more to follow

VERY impressive styrene engineering there Phil!

Love the way you've cut the wheel bay into the inboard engine nacelle!

I see quite a bit of PSR still to come in your future, Phill.  ;D  ;)

Guy me good chum your dead right
So much so that i can't touch it today as i'm waiting for the bloody stuff to dry  ;D
I added epoxy putty to the rear turret area yesterday so it would smooth that out and look more like the rear turret in that pic .

As for a back story ,,i donknow ,,,i haven't been much into writing them as the brain hasn't been smart enough to think of anything even close to something interesting.

As a suggestion you could sub-contract the job to Mike Rheged, he LOVES doing that.

OK, give me a few thoughts and (if  you wish) I will have a go at a backstory for you.

Thanks for the offer Mike ...I'll hold off for a little bit until I get any thoughts for this thing which right now ain't any  ;D
The brain is still thinking about building the thing and wondering what wing tip tanks would look like

What does "this thing" do? Defends bomber formations, I suppose. What does it do better than escort fighters?

Once they'd built and flown the YB-40s on ops the USAAC were asking themselves the very same question................. :(

Replace some or all of the machine guns with 20mm cannon?  That'll make enemy fighters take notice!
