Italeri 1/72nd AMX Ghibli (single-seat version) - FINALLY found one at a sensible price!

AlleyCat 1/72nd Twin Tail Beaufighter Conversion - to aid in the great cross-kitting plan.

Arrived when I was out yesterday, so picked up this morning.

And no, whilst some of the sprrue layout is similar to the Airfix kit, and it should be really, the rest are different. A quick inspection reveals that the interior has a much higher level of detail then the Airfix kit, although how much will be seen is another matter, you get 6 options rather than 2 in the Airfix, lots of parts marked "not for use" and the instructions are completely different in layout, although I quite like Airfix's step by step approach.

Looks very, very good and has been put on the "to be built shortly pile, although I may build this and the Airfix PR together as a comparison.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Special Hobby kits get better and better. I've got the earlier Meteor T.7/F.8 kits and a later NF.14. The NF.14 has better detail. The layout is similar, although they're not the same kit - swapping the wings sort of works but the fit is very different.

Quote from: Wardukw on July 30, 2025, 01:29:19 PMOK looking at the Arado E.555 gave me an idea right from the get go which hasn't happened in a while...and of course now I can't find one here and which is more annoying is they ain't that much money either 😒
Thinking a single seater in 48th which twin jet engines and the kits big enough for it .🤔
If I can bloody find one  :banghead:

This idea has been floating around in my head for nigh-on a decade (about as long as I've had my Ar (E) 555 in my stash).

Generally I've been looking at my Tamiya F4D-1 Skyray as a fuselage donor, & have thought of buying another to give me two engines but they're showing as "Discontinued" on several sites - so that's unlikely.

So, lately, I've been upgrading to a 2-seater with either a Tornado or, more likely, F-111 fuselage.
Those are sweet ideas mate ...the two seater is a different one of sure and definitely make for a very different look to that plane   ;D
Quote from: Pellson on July 31, 2025, 05:34:35 AMThis is nice thinking! Giving the Arado 555 an entirely new nose and some more modern engines will produce a rather different aircraft. Hmmmmm......
Yeah you can see what I mean ...it's already got the wings ..which look cool unto themselves but fit it with intakes ..in my brain a single seat cockpit..a couple of after burners poking out the back ...if ya got the canopy right man that thing would looked wicked bud  ;D

Another idea has come to me while sniffing the E.555's sprues, if you cut the vestigial fuselage off, it looks like a curvy main body and wings of a TOS Kilngon Cruiser.

I might have paid a rather extortionate price for a 1/72 Revell (ex-Monogram) F-101B. It's by far the best game in town, and they're getting rarer by the day, and at the end of the same day I might never find the time to actually build it because my StashTM is seriously overdrafting my lifespan. But I bought it anyway. Impulse control and all that...

You don't have a problem at all. Listed I have over 1200 kits, the count should be higher as not everything is on that list.

Picked up a Revell A-10 kit (1:48 scale) recently, and have a Testors F-4S in the same scale on the way.  I've built the Revell A-10 before, but never a Testors kit.  Anyone know about them?  Based on what I saw online I don't expect too much detail from them, but fit and finish wise I have no idea.

Spino mate you should have fun building this one ,,the Testors F-4S based from the Italeri molds ,,so its old but from a few mins hunting its got good detail and goes together rather nicely ...testors can be hit and miss sometimes with a lot of their kits being other manufactures molds ,,like their OV-10 Bronco ...ordinally ita a Hawk kit before it became Testors Hawk ..nothing new about that at all ,,happens all the time  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

At ca 800 listed and a similar update issue, I might not be quite so ashore as you might think..  ;D

But we Whiffers NEED  large stash as we're always looking for bits to fit onto other bits.  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Totally agree Mossie. Their He 162 is one of the nicest kits I've ever built

Not part of the stash, but the postman delivered all the commercial twin-slot and brackets for me to put up a much better shelving system. Plenty of room for future shelf expansion now. So it seems no excuse not to start the V-bombers...... or the Avro 730...
