Two Revell 1/72 kits, found for a very reasonable price at a tiny museum at Gwilli steam railway while holidaying in Wales. They'll probably be parts donors, although the E.555 is a fairly simple but striking kit for its size so I'm tempted to build it almost oob.

Arado E.555
Mistel 5, He.162 and Arado E.367a (ex Dragon)

Ah the old Dragon kit. The 'warhead' section is worth considering if a manned version would work.

The E555 is a very impressive kit. I did one in USAAF markings years ago but it did not survive.

The Ar E.555 is worth building just for the enjoyment of a fine fitting kit. Great whiff fodder as well. The Dragon kit is very old and IIRC, the fit of the He 162 wasn't great and my kit had a strange smoke colored clear canopy. The E.377 does have potential!

Nice find Mossie - I didn't even know that Mistel kit existed.

I've got two of the Ar 555, the intention being to finish one of them with the decals from one of my two Motorhead He 111s.

The mistel warhead is definitely convertible, its roughly 14cm/10m in 1/72 so a similar length to a Me-262. The He-162 looks good in the box, there's some nice engine detail. Fingers crossed on that one.

I'm wondering about the E.555, looks lovely. I could bash it into something rocket shippy, or I often think of putting Luft '46 in captured markings. Maybe fair over the turret and create a recce version. Motorhead decals will look good.

OK looking at the Arado E.555 gave me an idea right from the get go which hasn't happened in a while...and of course now I can't find one here and which is more annoying is they ain't that much money either 😒
Thinking a single seater in 48th which twin jet engines and the kits big enough for it .🤔
If I can bloody find one  :banghead:

Phill - Renax Sharkit changed it to a twin engine design and he may have rescaled it to 1/48: https://renax-sharkit.blogspot.com/2009/12/virulan-long-range-heavy-fighter.html

This kit from East Germany is 50 years old.
And in scale 1:100 it is also 50 cm long ( 20" )
Wing span is a bit more.

And a sweet Me 262 with the same age...

Is that a Playfix Bear? I've got their Trident which is going to have a bit of a scal-o-rama going on when I get my brain in gear.

Sort of.

It was originally by VEB from East Germany, as was your Trident, but the moulds got shared around a lot and the kits appeared under many names.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Frank mate thats very cool,,,its looks like he just took the original cockpit and modded that ,,,what i have in mind is a total replacement  of the cockpit  with a single seat ,,ME-262 type of deal but i do like his idea for the engines tho ,,,that does look pretty sweet and far more modern than what i had in mind  ;D

This idea has been floating around in my head for nigh-on a decade (about as long as I've had my Ar (E) 555 in my stash).

Generally I've been looking at my Tamiya F4D-1 Skyray as a fuselage donor, & have thought of buying another to give me two engines but they're showing as "Discontinued" on several sites - so that's unlikely.

So, lately, I've been upgrading to a 2-seater with either a Tornado or, more likely, F-111 fuselage.

This is nice thinking! Giving the Arado 555 an entirely new nose and some more modern engines will produce a rather different aircraft. Hmmmmm......

Those are sweet ideas mate ...the two seater is a different one of sure and definitely make for a very different look to that plane   ;D

Yeah you can see what I mean ...it's already got the wings ..which look cool unto themselves but fit it with intakes ..in my brain a single seat cockpit..a couple of after burners poking out the back ...if ya got the canopy right man that thing would looked wicked bud  ;D
