this is my 2nd F-20 which will be Luftwaffe - was evaluated in the early 80s along with the Fs 15, 16, 18 and Mirage 2000, eventually Germany chose the cheap option and upgraded their F-4s.

Note that it hasn't got its wings yet because...

this will be a "big winged" version as recomended by Evan.  The wings will be Hornet wings which will have their folding wing stuff removed - my story is that realising they needed a bigger wing Northrop used the wing off the F-18L as a basis  B)

That's a bit of overkill, nev.  As I remember, the increased area wasn't that much.  Line up the wingtip Sidewinder rails and trim the F-18 wing where it meets the F-20's LERX.  That'll likely be "good enough".

ah, c'mon Evan, where's your sense of adventure!  ;)

Maybe Northrop did a Spinal Tap and got their inches and feet confused?    Or in this case more like inches and cm  :D

*laughs uproariously* More like someone in the PD office got carried away with reducing the wing loading.  I've sen stranger ideas come out of the AD/PD world.

*crawls out of modelling black hole*

Well today I did my first modelling for 3 weeks.  Pulled this baby off the shelf and did the wings.

Scraped off the wing fold mechanism, cut off the inboard wings and glued a plasticard tab between the upper and lower wings to slot into the relevant hole in the fuselage.

LHS is modded, RHS in un-modded

I do like this idea! Anytime you can use Hornet parts is cool with me. Plus I absolutely love the Tigershark. Bravo! With all that extra wing area, what is the mission? Tank busting? Close air support? Just dreaming....

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

nev

No, she'll be Luftwaffe, another one for my Twilight 2000 scenario with AMRAAMs and 'winders and probly a couple of commie kill markings  ;)
