QuoteYou should have left them on, they act as blanking plates and give the aircraft a better rate of roll.

Re-F-104 with the AIM-9s that could turn faster than without...

yes, but it looks better this way  :D

First coat of paint is on - you can have any colour as long as its Ghost Grey  :P

I know the painting is a bit ropey.  It needs another coat, then some touch ups.

Hopefully I can break the back on this baby at the weekend  :f16:

She looks preaty mean in that 3/4 front view Nev and the painting looks ok to me

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Got a couple of really good modelling sessions in yesterday, my first in months.

Paint & decals are done.  Just needs weathering, flatcoat and ordnance.

And yes, that is an   :f16:  in the background  :dum:

Great work, congratulations... :)
Just 2 little questions:
- is the F-16 at a different scale from the F-20/18 hybrid? They are nice together, like mother and daughter...
- now that this seems finished, will you turn to the twin-tail F-86... ;) ?

The F-16 is 1/144, the F-20 is 1/72

The EF-86T, once I have finished fairing in the tail booms, it just needs painting, hopefully finished within a week.  I could post an in=progress pic, but I want to surprise you with the finished model...  ;)

It looks so much more, well, mean and nasty this way.    Very functional.

Of course you will surprise us, right now you are teasing us... ;)
For the 1/144 F-16, it is surprisingly nice, I guess all my future model buying will be 1/144 to play with shapes forgetting details that do not interest me, and having more models per shelf as result. I will ask Hannants web site all that exist at 1/144, I know this is the weak point of this scale: just a few aircraft are available.
When I was a child, I offered to my little sister a P-47 and a Fw 190 at this scale that she painted plain red and yellow, smiling little girl, but what-if I build some half-seriously like you and Glenn and other friends?

Hannants has 656 kits at that scale. Over here, 1:144 kits can be found even in toy shops.
The only problem at that scale is finding decals (Hannants lists only 2 military sets, both RAF. There are lots of airliner decals in this scale, though) and accessories (e.g. extra weapons).
