she's come together really well nev - looks especially great now that she's got some cammo on, and a bit of grime!  :wub:

Your finish, including its weathering, is so positively "right" that I keep forgetting all the other work you did in modifying the wings, etc.  I find my mind questioning none of the mods because it all looks so believable.  You've achieved total suspension of JMN disbelief!

Your lighter shades of grey and their hydraulic/oil/grease/grime are exactly what I'm hoping to do on my ugly helo.  Any tips?

Man, you've really reached a new height with this one, Nev.

I agree... Even the belly-up pictures are not modeller fantasy wanting to show under-wing loads and below-side paint, but the best attitude for maintenance and loading. So perfect. :D In Nev we trust ^_^

Well, er, you remember that tip you gave me about a Future/Black acrylic mixture for washing?  I used that.  What I haven't figured out yet is how you manage to get the backwards streaky effect.

The wash is a bit heavy in places though, haven't quite mastered the art yet  ;)

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, and the maingear door outline is there!!1  You just can't see it with the light at that angle on the underside shots - an angle deliberately chosen so you can't see the bits in the wing underside I didn't fill properly  :o

Ha, weird.  I'll have to try that "technique" (snickers at his own d'oh!).

The rearward streaking effect is quite easy:
- bit of masking tape affixed to align its aft edge with the forward edge of the area to be "streaked" (i.e. flaps or ailerons);
- using a small amount of flecks from two or three shades of gray pastel and/or charcoal rubbed onto some sandpaper, I tap the sandpaper to release a mini-dusting of the pastel/charcoal dust onto the masking tape;
- using a bit of facial tissue and/or Q-tips, I streak the dust off the masking tape, always going in a straight line directly backwards and onto the target area (the flaps and ailerons, in this case).

To balance things, I sometimes go over the area again using near-white shades of gray pastel dust.

It's easy and fun to do.
