If discussing my ability with tools in general my brother would certainly dissagree with you

I never said one had to be any Good with tools; just that the playtime is always Good. ;)

To add to what Stuart mentioned:

 - get a soft silicone spreader and use that to mix the resin in the vat; I've found that plastic spatulas can scratch the FEP at the bottom of the tank
 - The amount of paper towels you'll go through is truly remarkable. I use paper shop towels (Scott) since they can be cheaper in bulk and are stronger than regular kitchen towels. One print can use up 5 towels if I'm lucky. Most of them will have resin or resin contaminated alcohol.
 - for small/delicate parts, I wash them using a spray bottle with alcohol. I aim into a larger container that I use to wash larger parts. I've found that the wash part of the wash and cure machine is too rough on delicate resin. I have a dedicated, cheap nylon brush to help the alcohol get into deep recesses and to brush off any stubborn resin.

I finally have a plumber booked to fit the shower stuff and change the bath taps at the same time. Only been a few years since I started tiling the bathroom  :-\

Packed a couple of IKEA boxes to go into the loft, trying to decide what to put into a third box. The main criteria is a lack of or dwindling interest in the model/aircraft. I have to make space for next month's purchases, don't I? To that end, I also built a shelving unit for the living room. I have a couple of shelves that need to cut down to fit into another book rack. This is for my paperbacks. Not enough shelves for the height of the books, and I don't like stacking them on their backs, so I found shelves for a double-slotted railing system, which are slightly too long and deep, but I have saws, etc, and the cut surface will mostly be behind the books anyway.

As part of my preporations for Telford this year, I decided to get out the cake tin. Opps, I had left a cake in it from about ten or so months aso. Funny how a fruit cake can cover itself in what looks like frosted iceing.  :-\
The contents went into a food wast bag and straight out to the big bin outside. The tin went into the kitchen sink what was filled with a combination of hot water and bleach, heavy on the bleach, and left to soak for an hour or two.
The end result, is both good and bad.
The good is that the sink has not looked this clean in ages, that bleach realy shift stuff.
The bad, even though the tin is far cleaner, I don't trust the lid that the cake had sat on, its tarnished! So that is going out in the bin once it has dried.
It's a shame about the tin, you cant get the large metal sweet tins any more. It was about five and a half inches deep, really usfull to hold a full cake in.
So the moral of this story is, If you have cake, eat it!

My GLW (Good Lady Wife) looks at Charity Shops for a lot of her cooking implements and tins.. as when the good well made older stuff gets cleaned out when the inevitable happens to the previous owner, either it goes to charity shops or the bin. In the case of the shops, there are often some first class old style, well made tins suitable for the family size fruit cakes. It is a often a case of right place and right time though.. others are on to this as well  ;D

Thanks for the tip. I think I will look online for something Tuperware like though and maybe buy a couple as I might get back into bakeing, or if I make fruit cake, I often make two, one with and one without cherries in it.

You're making me hungry now...  ;)

And there's always time and room for fruit cake - the darker, the better.

Lots of choices on Amazon for actual cake tins. I will have a proper look when I get home and can look at them on a proper monitor rather than my phone. So there should be cake at Telford again this year.

You can still get metal cake tins from the likes of Dunelm, The Range or big supermarkets. Hobbycraft?

The plastic tubs for Celebrations et al aren't too bad but not deep enough for a serious cake  ;D

My sister makes cakes and uses cardboard boxes which look a bit like heavy duty pizza boxes. I think she gets them from work or the cash and carry.

Isn't a Quality Street tin big enough ?

Must admit I like the rectangular tins you get with M&S Shortbread this time of year   Very useful and the shortbreads not bad either  ;D

I have managed to get a few minutes at the modelling bench today. Not much done, only did some PSR on the P.1121 intake area. I hope to get some work done on the cockpit of a P.8 over the weekend as well. I am unlikely to be bringing anything new to Telford, although I may cycle some of the models that I didn't bring last year.

Telford preparations have advanced quite a bit today. One of the things I had to do was to install a new banking app on my phone. The reason was that the Credit card company I had was bought out by another bank, so I had to install their banking app to manage the card, especially for Telford. This went as well as installing Banking Apps always does with me. As smooth as trying to roller skate down a mountain scree in the middle of a blizzard wearing a welder's mask and goggles. Something always goes wrong, without fail! This time, everything was going smoothly until I was confirming my mobile number. No responding text message, and then the app wanted to go back to the start again  :banghead:  :banghead: This invariably means that my frustration will grow exponentially, so I stopped and headed into town to talk to the nearest bank that is part of the same company, also they are not open over the weekend so I had to go then, not later. A nice woman helped me go through the whole process yet again  :banghead: only this time we got a text message to confirm my phone number. It's not as if my phone was unable to get a wi-fi signal earlier, being less than six feet from the router! So passwords set up, and Biometrics confirmed, so if I need to use the password, I have no chance of remembering what it was. Next was to draw cash. This from yet another bank, no bank card, as the account had been only a savings account, and I shuffled the money back and forth using their banking app, so no card needed. So English notes were received and duly put away for two weeks' time. Then, when I got home, I checked my emails to confirm that I do, in fact, have a booking at the Mercure Hotel
So that's ninety odd percent of my being organised done, I should be able to sleep really well tonight.
