Pre-ordered the new Airfix 1/48 Spitfire IX through Jadlam Models this evening, for collection at Telford, if it's available then. I will be looking for one of the latest Seafire 47's in 1/48 by Airfix, with plans to try and recreate the Spitfire F.21 fuselage and a few other bits to make use of the spare wings in that kit. I have plenty of references to use, especially the Shacklady book, which is 2" thick, and no, I am not joking, it's quite large in the other dimensions as well. I may drop Lee a line to find out which are the best drawings to use for that project as well.

I have been using Telford as an excuse to upgrade my wardrobe, which was starting to show its age. And no, it's not the one the 3D printer is going into. New soft shoes to wear in the evenings, as well as new tops and a new pair of jeans that are two inches smaller around the waist than the last pair I bought!
Unfortunately, the weather has been showery, so I have not been able to do any DIY. Minor progress has been made with the marking out of where various items are to go, and what needs to be removed from the sheet of MDF that is going inside the unit. Hopefully, after Telford I get a dry day to actually do the drilling and routing required on the MDF. The cat will just have to put up with it or go out when I drill and fix things into the unit. Work tomorrow, but only for three days this week.  ;D

I just had a minor disaster. After applying more filler to the P.1121 intake, I knocked one of the P.8's onto the floor! One of the wingtip launch rails was broken into three pieces. The largest piece stayed glued to the wing; however, as I have a grey carpet in the room, finding the two much smaller pieces was a little more problematic. I found them, then lost one when checking its fit onto the rest of the launch rail. I decided to put a drop of glue onto a dish and then dip the part into the glue rather than applying the glue directly onto the model or part. Eventually, I got the part to sit in the right place, then I added the remaining part. The repair is not 100%, but it looks ok. If I hang a missile on it, then the damage will be less noticeable.

I DETEST repairing a model, it's often so much harder than building it in the first place.  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Totally, and it never goes back exactly as it was before.

Telford preparations continue slowly. The laptop has been charged and updates performed. I have also tested connecting to my phone as a mobile Hotspot, so as long as the laptop has been charged, I can use it at the show due to my phone having unlimited data. This means I can pull up drawings when talking to people about the P.1121.
Cake baking will take place tomorrow evening! You are all going to have to put up with cherries in the cake. I can't be bothered to make a second one without the charries.
Really looking forward to the weekend, my credit card isn't though
There should be lots of interesting things to buy, some very expensive things that will tempt me and which I shall not succumb to, and probably the odd item that will be bought that I probably have no need for, but that's the fun of these events, isn't it?

Captain Canada

For sure, repairs are always worse than the actual build....and that's assuming you do find oll of the broken bits !

Preparations for Telford have taken another step forward. The fruit cake is in the oven!

Well, it has to be fruit cake with us lot behind the benches.

I think fruit and nut would be more all encompassing....

At 15:36 today, I start my week long holiday. So looking forward to this break. Travelling to strange lands and meeting strange people, probably eating strange food, depending on where we end up for the Saturday night out, but not drinking strange drink. I want to enjoy the following day, nor spend it recovering from the previous evening.

I have just realized that I should probably clear out all the change that has been sitting on my dresser for a few years. It will make paying for the odd thing, such as the book I am buying off Nick far simpler if I have actual coinage rather than notes or plastic to use. With having been using plastic for ages, I may have to dust the coinage off a bit first.  :-\
