I am greatly relieved to hear that you have managed to sort out  these Telford-related matters, and wish you a relaxing evening and refreshing night's sleep.

Nice to see that you're well underway preparations wise for Telford.

Re tin boxes and contaminants - any biological hazard brought by old food will be fully and permanently cleared out by a good rub with standard wash up chemicals. Bleach is rather overkill, I would say. And should you still feel somewhat uncertain, dipping the item in water hotter than 60 C will kill anything still alive. So you don't have to throw away any further good boxes.

That said, I might have misunderstood the entire thing, and if so, please accept my apologies.

I need to check out your P.1121 thread, I see.  Tada.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Or ants.  Slower than a dog but they can get right into the tight corners.

But you have to clean them out thoroughly - formic acid tastes nasty... X-P

The tin, after a good soak in Bleach and hot water, is out in the waste bin; a new one is arriving tomorrow to my place of work.

I am fairly sure that everyone on this forum from the UK realised that the clocks went back one hour last night. We had 2 am twice, so now as I type, it is almost 9 pm, it feels very much like 10 pm. Today, also being a Sunday, is the day I visit my mother, who asked me to change the clock on her microwave. She had the instructions out ready for me, and the blasted machine didn't want to work the way that the instructions said. My mum thought it would probably be ok for her to use this evening, so we left it at that. I then received a call from my mum saying that she could not get the microwave to work, so I headed straight over and this time powered the machine off. When I switched the machine on again, the instructions worked, and as I left, my mum was cooking her dinner in it. Problem sorted and knowledge gained. Next time we need to change the time, switch the machine off at the wall first.
One thing that I knew was going to be a pain was the clock for the dashboard of my car. The methodology for selecting from the menu, or even getting into the menu, is simple but cumbersome, making it difficult to navigate up or down a level. On top of that, accessing the menu also resets the MPG counter. I had just reached 55 MPG and was hoping to increase it further, we will have to see how that goes over the next week or so.

I leave the clock in my car alone. I set if for standard time, as the gods and Cthulhu intended and just add an hour in my head during DST, while cursing the idiots who foisted this abomination on us. We switch in a week or so.

It might have been a good idea years ago but it hardly applies these days. I say dump it.

Well done for sorting your mum out Alistair   Do you want to come round and sort my radio alarm out ?  ;)  Nah I finaly sorted it, but it was interesting. It's relatively new and this was the first time I'd needed to change it. Still all part of the circle of life

I had to go back to my mum's today, the clock on the microwave was showing six hours out. Switched it off, then on again and set the time again. It was ok when I left it this time, I'm sure it was last time too.

The MPG readout on the dashboard is being very nice to me. It's saying that it's better now than it was when I had to reset the darn thing.

I believe it's all to do with the way it works the MPG out. The further travelled since the reset, the larger the number of miles in the calculation, so you need to be far more economical to get any change.

Or something like that  :-\

Correct. It's usually the average since last reset. Although lots of manufacturers also have a real-time gauge too.

I have a green bar that goes from left, Zero, to the right, Eighty. There is also a little triangle at the bottom to represent where the current average is on the scale.

In other news, when searching for bits to be sent to Rick, I found the old Airfix Short Sterling I had been looking for in the loft. So, next year I will start whiffing that

Hey, a Bonus! - Take them when you get them these days, is my advice.
