A RW and a might-have-been are close to completion.  Once done I intend moving on to some 'shelf queens', although the 2026 model group monthly theme schedule (yet to be finalised) will probably kibosh my tentative 2026 build plan.  However, two '2026 build plan' part-builds will definitely go ahead in the margins of the 'Operation Downfall' GB - both are too far down the build road to be eligible (being a co-moderator for that GB means I can make that decision!).

Meanwhile, part of the 2026 build schedule is is a long-planned refurb/rebuild/whif of a FROG Shackleton.  Yes a FROG Shack, not NOVO, etc.  So this was first released in 1967 and my edition was as far as I can tell a 1974 repop that I built at some point around 1976.  So a rebuild of a half-century old build of a nigh on sixty-year old kit.  What could possibly go wrong? 

Some prep work done today: removing the cockpit and nose glazing, undercarriage doors and bomb bay doors and other bits and bobs.  Aerials, for example - some have broken off over the years and will be replaced, while new aerials can be added (It's a whif!).

I've settled on a colour scheme, which makes decalling much easier than it could otherwise be.

A LOT of PSR will be needed, a) to get rid of the rivets, b) fill in numerous poor joints and c) make good the rubbish 50 year filling in.  Oh yeah, and glue marks - while I'd used model filler of some description I only ever used tube glue in those days 

So yes, what could possibly go wrong??  I'm hoping it'll end up looking as intended but I can't ignore the possibility of it becoming a tedious folly.  Anyway, work begins in January and the target completion date is the end of October.  Fingers crossed it'll be ready in time for Telford.

Well it's definitely 2026 (belated HNY, everyone).  New Year's Day saw me on a shift at the local National Coastwatch Institution - bright, sunny, chilly day.  A quiet shift.

First shift of the year at Shakespeare's Globe tomorrow.

But today was a day at home.  Pleasant afternoon walk along the seafront - mesmerising murmuration (if you squint it looks like a Mi-2 helicopter) by the pier and an impressive sunset.
