Hehehe, I can just imagine you doing that too Fred. With an evil glint in your eye...............  ;)  ;D

I did it with a mint, sealed, original issue MPC Dukes of Hazzard General Lee (one of the first run which used the incorrect Charger 500 body shell with the flush rear window - moulded in orange).  I did it to check the transfers were viable and included the confederate flag.
It was very satisfying.
I always check the clear parts are intact when buying at a swap and sell.  If the seller won't let me look then it has to be something special (or really cheap) for the sale to progress.

I also do it because I have heard the stories about old kit boxes being ballasted with left over sprues and then shrink wrapped with the intention of selling them to collectors who will not open them.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Tell me about it!  :o

I once had a set of FROG 1/96 V Bomber kits, and the Vulcan was missing its tiny windscreen, but the Victor and Valiant were both still sealed and wrapped. I really didn't need them, wrong scale for me, and went to sell them to a trader at the ME show. I told him about the missing Vulcan parts and suggested we checked the other two as well. He screamed 'DON'T OPEN THE BOX!!!' and asked him why, so he said in the collector's market they were worth much more still sealed, and he bought both Victor and Valiant for £70 each................

Did I worry? Not a jot.  ;D

Of course in the good old days back when I was young a lot of the boxes were just sealed with sticky tape.

Congratulations Kitbasher for the Airfix Lightning article in the latest IPMS magazine. Neat.
