Seen Over Your House Today

We had a trio of helo over London today. One was obviously the Met Police EC145, the other two were H-60s that appeared white over light grey in the distance. I'm happy to assume they were US Marine VH-60N doing practice runs over town in readiness for you-know-who's visit on Friday the 13th....

When Obama was here about 7 years ago his whole helicopter convoy flew right over my house, first (and last) time I've seen CH-46 Sea Knights flying.

A Lonesome Herk trundled o'head here at around 5000 ft this afternoon, heading Rheged-wards actually......

I still will not let SWMBO paint "TRUMP OFF" on the roof of our house.

Considering there's a certain balloon set to fly in London, it'd be rather apropos.  ;D

Spotted a trio of MV-22 Osprey over London yesterday afternoon as part of Trumps visit. I assume this was purely backup as he drove in from Stansted Airport in a yuge, bigly convoy. Many cars, big cars. And trucks.

Helsinki on Monday. Police has been welding shut manholes. Papers explain that it is because Trumps armoured car is so heavy  ;D  ;D  ;D

The BBC news last night showed him getting into MARINE ONE almost immediately after getting off AIR FORCE ONE, and then showed pictures of the (presumably) VH-60N White Hawk over Regent's Park accompanied by an Osprey

I'm presuming the car referred to is 'The Beast' LIMO ONE and I guess it was flown over specially for him?

As for him flying into Stansted....maybe he could come into Luton instead and we could get Lorraine Chase to 'meet and greet' him (You'll have to be of a certain age to get that reference!  ;D )
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

I met Ms Chase a couple of times and she was a nice "lass"  Mind you on the first occasion she did accuse me of taking the pee. Took quite a while for her to realise that I really did talk like that and wasn't taking it  ;)

Yup he flew in, and is virtually flying everywhere. I was going to ask if he flew in the Osprey or the VH-60N ? I suppose the Osprey was the security and staff ?

Love it  ;D

Mind you they will have to be replaced post visit. Yet more cost for your tax payers  :banghead:

From memory the Ospreys are for security, White House staff and press, they aren't deemed suitable for regular Presidential use due to cramped interiors and noise issues.
Then there is the reliability / crash problem. They weren't considered safe enough in 2013 https://gizmodo.com/the-president-gets-a-personal-osprey-hes-not-allowed-t-1108783801

The Ospreys do look good in that glossy dark green scheme!

So in that article it appears Mr.Trump was travelling in a Sikorsky VH-3D, (Sea King derivative) but over here he appeared to be in a Sikorsky VH-60N (Black Hawk derivative) I presume it's because the later is air transportable?

My no. 1 daughter, who works at Blenheim Palace normally (but not this week, they were all given 4 days off) says they had a practice 'fly by' at Blenheim on Tuesday, with an H-60 and two V-22s in formation with a C-5!

The latter peeled off westward, while the choppers landed there, and as there was a USAF C-5 on the ground at Brize Norton today as I passed by I presume that carried in the monster limo.

Why has the thought just occurred to me that (with it's weight) if you dropped the limo with Trump in it out of the back of the C-5 you'd have an extremely large 'dumb' bomb?  :o

That is pretty much what it says on Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMX-1
Because the VH-60N folds easily for loading into an Air Force C-5 Galaxy or a C-17 Globemaster it is ideal for overseas assignments. The Marines can prepare a VH-60N for a C-5 load in less than two hours.
