I'd seen some shots of that Jon, but my brain never linked the two  :banghead:. Cheers

Nils, I saw a bunch of Apaches and Blackhawks around the same time.  Of course, I'm in Ohio...  Transiting through the Columbus airport, probably, and headed west.  Unsettled my wife a little while she was gardening.

perttime

Finnish Air Force Learjet doing an extra circuit around a couple of suburbs on the airport/base approach. Altitude was lower than usual and the wheels were out.

I don't usually get exited about utility/transport aircraft but the Learjet was pretty cool turning at relatively low level and making a little noise.

Saw this 737 today, belongs to the Wilmington Trust Co. No idea why it was at YYC though. (not my photo)

Later saw a military C-130 take off, too far away to see who the operator was, but it was a light grey

EDIT:  And I almost forgot about this one I saw yesterday, WestJet's new livery on this 737. (not my photo and sorry about the size of the pic but just click on it and it should reduce it quite a bit)

It will also appear on the 787's they are buying.

737 is cool. What one would look like if Joe Schmoe owned it. I know Travolta has one but I wonder how many actual private citizen individuals (not tied to any business) own decent sized jetliners.  ;D

Westjest new livery isn't too shabby. I sure miss cheatlines and things like simple, easy to replicate and identify logos. Of some of the newer tail decorations and stuff, though, this is one of the better ones.

I want the 747!!   I'd turn it into a house and live in it. Once I got tired of the airport I was living at, I'd move.

OK, before I forget again, yesterday I saw a C-17 take off from the far runway, 17L. Then about an hour late a Luftwaffe A400M landed right in front of me on 17R.

Today started off good, saw the A400M take-off from 17R but later in the day I heard this roar of engines which could only mean one thing --- fighter --- times two too.  And I wasn't wrong because a short while later again I saw a pair of CF-18's buzzing downtown Calgary. Which isn't surprising because today is the start day of the 2018 edition of the Calgary Stampede (for ten days). Then a short while after that I saw the pair flying north just west of YYC which then followed by the pair buzzing YYC right down 17R then breaking sharply to the west, came around again and landed on 17R almost together. They were a pair of CF-188D's.  And to top the day off, an RCAF CC-144C landed shortly after the CF-188's did.  I had a ring side seat (in my vehicle) to the whole show too ---

CC-144C was just like this one (not my photo)

These are used to transport high-up dignitaries around, I'm wondering who came to Calgary ---

I was in Calgary during the "Stampede" a good few years ago and to be honest I was surprised how "quiet" it was, but that's coming from someone who's used to the bustle of London. Only there over night basically as it was the starting point for our Rockies tour and they, and the hotels, were fantastic

That CC-144C is very neat

Different now Chris, noise 24-7 these days what with 1.3 million people there. One of the reasons we moved out of Calgary. And you wouldn't think it's a "western" town now either ---

A WWII camo'd Tiger Moth trundled over northbound y'day afternoon.

I'd forgotten how distinctive that engine note was as I said 'Tiger Moth' to myself before I saw it.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Right. Thinking about it, it was probably 25 years or more ago when I was there ?  :o

About half an hour ago had a VH-60N past the house, low and fast, heading from Prestwick Apt. SW, towards Turnberry? Then about five mins ago it came back the other way. Now what could that be about?
I still will not let SWMBO paint "TRUMP OFF" on the roof of our house.
