Some of the AirTanker Voyagers are available for charter to civvie lessors for much of the time, but can be hauled in by the RAF as required. Maybe that one was 'required' at the time?

Pretty much what it was Kit, it was back today and I got a couple of pics of it ---- and the registration number  G-VYGL. Apparently it's registered to Air Tankers and has civilian numbers but as you can see the lightning bolt is there but pretty much nothing else.  Anyway, it went to Apron IX and off-loaded a bunch of troops headed for Suffield.

I wonder if they repaint the 'standby' Voyagers at Brize if the RAF need them? I'll ask someone who may know......  ;D

I can't imagine too many civvie airlines would live with a leased aircraft painted grey with blue stripes!

Just East of Worcester, on the way back from a day's culture at Stratford on Avon, a Puma heading East at about 150 feet.  I was driving, so I couldn't look properly.

The NavCan Challenger was buzzing about today. I was staining the deck with the tunes cranked so assuming I missed most passes. I saw him and grabbed the camera, but he was gone....

Forgot to add to my last post, I was stationed just off taxiway Juliet yesterday (about 100 yards away) watching some contractors work on the new gates and bridges which the new part of the terminal has (it's going to open at the end of October and will double the size of the terminal) when an RAF C-17 trundled by (ZZ174). Then I watched it take-off from 17L a few minutes later ---

Passing o'head Chepstow at lunchtime today was a Griffon Spitfire!

I heard it before I saw it (as you would.....) and stopped in the middle of the car park to look, much the amazement of everyone else in sight.  ;D I saw it. said 'Spitfire!' to Mrs_PR19 and EVERYone else stopped and looked up.  ;D

It was at around 2500-3000 ft and against the Sun so I couldn't see the colour, but it was definitely a Mk XIV or XIX.

The word has that effect doesn't it  ;D Saw one clear the beer tent and the players dressing rooms during tea at Arundel once (MCC v Australia in the first game of an Ashes tour)

Just watched what must be 90% of the RAF fly over Buck House. Not seen the Rivet Joint thingy before
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

;D I think I was born with them. When we lived in Egypt after WWII Dad sat me in a Hurricane at age 5 or so and apparently I was going 'Wrrrrr Wrrrr' trying to be a Merlin.  ;)
