Early afternoon today we had a Dak trundle north-east up the Severn, trundling as only a Dak can do.

It was dark(-ish) and I couldn't see any markings as it was against what little light there was, but it had a 'military' look about it.  ;D

Gondor

Out at the local Military show today and saw a couple of BN Islanders flying overhead as the "display"

Many years ago, when I was in the Air Cadets, we were at RAF West Raynham, sitting outside the flight office waiting for air experience flights, when a Beverley took off.
Turned left and vanished ever so slowly in that direction.
Ever since, the expression "Watching something fly across the sky" has had a totally more significant meaning for me.

On Thursday there was a CL-415 at YYC, and then this morning while I was on my computer at home, at least one CF-188 whizzed down the valley I live on. By the noise, it could have been two ----

Ah yes, Beverleys didn't so much fly as lift off the ground and then wait for the Earth to rotate underneath them, hopefully in the direction they wanted to go........

it is apparently the cosford airshow, im not there ( natch)  as its been threatening rain all day, and having just watched the Apache display on the web watch its rather wet out there, waiting for the B52 now, but it seems hes cleared to a min height of 1000ft and the cloud base is lower, and the webcam is falling apart like mad, constantly having to hit F5 to refresh the screen as it goes to fuzz and a google error message come sup.

Mrs_PR19 and I were in Cheltenham for shopping today, and a steady stream of stuff was going overhead on approach to runway 27 at Staverton. The usual suspects, PA28s, C172s, Jodels and Jabirus were enlivened by a VERY deep thrumming noise, and I looked up from the main shopping street to see a MERLIN helicopter on the same flight path!  :o

Not only was it weird in itself, but I couldn't help asking myself why was a helicopter bothering with a standard approach when he could have just flown over the airfield from any direction and plonked it down onto the ground vertically?

We went out to The Aviator restaurant at Staverton for lunch later on but the Merlin had gone by then.

Coast Guard Dolphins at KACY do it all the time, Kit, particularly when Spirit Airlines isn't arriving.

Speaking of helicopters, I saw one of these while driving down the Stevenson expressway outside Chicago today.

Sikorski S-58T

Not nearly as close as this pic. He did a turn and I assume landed as I couldn't see him anymore.

I wonder why? Perhaps it makes it easier for ATC to keep track of them?
