I was buzzed at fairly low level by an RAF Herk en route back from the MK Show.

I diverted from my planned main road route due to the HORRENDOUS level of traffic trying to get back to London from Silverstone and passed right by Weston-on-the-Green where the RAF does a lot of its paradrop training, flying Herks from Brize these days, but I was surprised to see them doing it on  Sunday.  :o

Maybe the Territorials needs para training?  And if so, hopefully, it didn't go as badly as the 173d Airborne at Hohenfels.

Good thinking, you're probably right. The Herk had its ramp down but I was just south of Weston when it buzzed me so I didn't see any Paras drop out.

Those US drops were a bit crucial, they screwed THREE of them, the loadmasters will be in for a roasting for sure.  :o

I once flew in a Beverley that dropped a Landie and a small field gun over Salisbury Plain. The field gun's chutes failed to open and it went straight in, barrel first, which was pretty impressive, to say the least.  ;D

Captain Canada

I thought it was a 747 flying over, but the pics looked more like a C-5.

Then I saw another and this time for sure it's a Galaxy. Upon comparison of the two pics, as well as the chemtrail (  ) pattern, I believe the first one was a Galaxy as well.

Yes, 747 contrails stay in in fours for quite a bit longer than in your pics. Then they go into two very well defined trails.

I don't think I've ever seen a C-5 trail as well as your pics, they're great.

Thanks for the tip Kit ! I knew they went 4 into 2 distinct, but you're right this is completely different.

Went to Ottawa to pick up my kid after her first year of Uni. Popped in to Trenton on the way up and was treated to a bunch of overshoots and touch and goes by the Polaris.

Took the back way home through Smiths Falls and saw this

Whilst out in the garden committing horticulture, a pair of low, noisy  Typhoons, off to annoy the Welsh side of the Marches and a total of 14 (yes, fourteen) airliner trails high above.  In the words  (almost) of Simon and Garfunkel "They've all gone to look for America"

Nick

Was a lovely clear morning over London early today, birds flying and chirping, river flowing smooth.

Then the whop-whop-whop of the Chinook was heard! If I'd had my pocket camera it would have been a great shot. :banghead:
I had a good view of the British Flag that was plastered dead centre under the fuselage. Anybody know why this is there?

Captain Canada

Cool. Take the camera next time eh !

Contrail after contrail crossing the Forest today. As it was CAVU conditions they stuck out like sore thumbs, lots of 747-400s but LOADS more 777s.

Waste of time taking a pic, once you've seen contrails against a blue sky you've seen 'em all.........

While out in a park near Horsham, Southwater Park, I heard a strange noise......looking up I was amazed to see a Fokker Eindecker.....!!! Probably a replica. The thing looked so fragile as it wobbled along. Later in the same area I saw two of them. Got a pretty poor pic on my camera phone......I'll try and post it.....

It had warped in from Old Wombat's 'Biggles and the Phantom Menace' thread obviously.  ;D

Probably real ones from way back, just been delayed by Air Traffic.
