RAF Rivet Joint, almost directly over the house.

i thought those things still weren't flying regularly.

'haps he was practising for the airshow?!?!  ;D ;D

I'm almost certain, it wasn't very high, grey on bottom, white on top with a black schnoz.  Quiter than you'd expect an airliner to be and the ones going into Humberside are much smaller.  I'm not too far from Waddington as the crow flies and I'd occasionally see Nimrod's.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The Wooksta!

There was a DC3 or more likely a C-47 flying over the Toon today.

just after midday today an RAF hercules was seen [and heard] doing a touch and go at coventry airport.

the herc' went away at a medium altitude.

Gondor

Lots of stuff today, Tornado GR4, Typhoon GR4, Apache AH1, two Sea King Mk3's, Lynx MR8?, Navy ASR Sea King, Two Spitfires and a Lancaster as well as a couple of light aircraft used by the Red evils and Falcons and the Red Arrows as well as a training Helicopter (Squirrel?) and a Sikorsky Civy job used to transport VIP's to the Armed Forces Day in Stirling.

Pictures to follow once I dig them out of the camera and if they are in focus as I was not wearing my glasses today although the camera was on auto.

BBMF Dakota, earlier this afternoon, second time in under a month.
Pair of F15's earlier this week, made a change from Typhoon and Tornadoes which is our normal fare and the odd R.N. fixed wing out of Yeovilton.
too old for a paper round, too young for me pensions, dammit, back to work then!

Southbound on the A1(M) on Wed afternoon I thought I saw an XB-70 heading directly toward me at about 5000 ft!  :o

But there was another one about a mile astern of it, so it dawned on me it must have been a couple of Typhoons, presumably out of Leeming. It's amazing just how much a Tiffie looks like a Valkerie from ahead and below.

Something very low and very noisy tore over the house today (around 3pm?) on approach to Edinburgh. Definite fighter noise, too quick for a visual and did not show up on Flight Radar 24. We had an Alitalia A319 from & to Rome come in around 18:40 (approx.) which isn't on FR24's edi arrivals list & Pegasus is doing several flights a week that aren't listed either.

Not so much seen over my house today, rather seen above my car whilst passing a building yesterday.

There's a branch of Vanguard Storage (www.vanguardstorage.co.uk) on the A40 in west London just to the west of the Hangar Land gyratory.  It's a former factory building and at the very top of the building there's always something on display.  This can on occasion be a UH-1 or a Hawker Hunter F.1 (honestly, check http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3621301 or Google Vanguard Storage Hunter).

On display at the moment is a WW1 Male Mk 1 tank (a replica I guess)!  On sandbags on top of a shipping container!!  Pic at https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Vanguard+Storage&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:%7Breferrer:source%3F%7D&rlz=1I7SVED_enGB454GB455&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=O8ivU9ScB8OtPJLhgagP&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAw&biw=1920&bih=955#q=Vanguard+Storage+Hunter&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:%7Breferrer:source%3F%7D&tbm=isch&facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=xLHfnysNKCsZCM%253A%3BZv35HyQ78PJKKM%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fpbs.twimg.com%252Fmedia%252FBqpqST8IMAAsGn0.jpg%253Alarge%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Ftwitter.com%252FVanguardStorage%3B1024%3B1024.

Isn't Vanguard Storage the old Hoover building?

Either that or some other equally notable company's anyway.

No Kit, that's now a branch of Tesco's and is about a quarter of a mile further west. Don't know anything about the Vanguard building's past.
