I was lured outside by the sound of a "TV sound effect" helicopter (i.e. one with a two bladed rotor making the wokka wokka sound TV has taught us all helicopters make).
When it appeared from behind a tree I found it was not the expected Huey but a Robinson R22 or R44.  Flying low so prolly a joy flight rather than someone going from A to B or having lessons.
As usual with flyovers it came from the direction of Tyabb International Aerodrome SE of us.

I know exactly what you mean about TV sound effect helicopters. We have Shobdon airfield just north of us, with a helicopter school there. We get a fine profusion of Robinsons on joy rides most week ends.

You probably find that the pilots need to get their month hours in, I used to go flying with a young lady who had a private license but was going for her commercial one. She needed to get 'x' amount of hours in each month but she couldn't afford the rent of an aircraft to do it, I would go along with her for half of the rental cost. Bonus for me was once we got to the training area west of Calgary, I got to do the flying  ---    ;D

Wifey took this pic at the Ronald Reagan Washington Natianal Airport ( in Virginia  ;D )

My guess it's a pair of Maryland State Police choppers

Cracked the patio door open on this beautiful, sunny afternoon and heard somat. As it grew louder I shook the hounds off my lap, grabbed the camera and headed outside.

Nice!! UH1N Twin Hueys?

I think they're 412s, they have 4 bladed rotors.

Ah thanks! I'm practicing my plane spotting. I knew all the extra "stuff" up top was consistent with the UHN1 Twins but the 4 blades... well, I couldn't remember if the Twins had those or not, now I know!

So many variants of these things I can't keep up.    :o ;D

IIRC the two bladed 212 was effectively a civilian UH-1N, but I expect someone here has the full story.

Cool stuff... one thing I've really enjoyed since getting back to this model building hobby is that I'm realizing that even with my better than the average persons ability to spot planes and know what they are that I basically don't know a tenth of what I thought I did.... I've learned a LOT, though, and it's really really fun learning about the variants of these machines and all the subtle and not so subtle differences.  I used to be able to say, "Yeah, that's a Mustang."  Now I can, sometimes, also say WHICH Mustang!  I have a long way to go, though, but plenty of time to get there! And hell, it's fun to spout of all all the letters and crap and look like a big shot to people not in the know.   "OHHH yeaaaah, it's Not just an F-25 Gobblet Chomper, it's an F/J-25C block 420 SuperGoblet Utlra Chommper!!!    :::polishes nails:::::  "

Basically a 412, these are RCAF CH-146 Griffon choppers, flown by 427 special operations aviation squadron.

Yeah, but those Block 420s were dogs.

They never did get the upper wing vibration problems sorted out and had to revert to the anhedral upper wing as used on the Block 410s for the Block 450s................
