One idea that I have to share: Let's say there isn't enough Tempest II for the RAF and other Commonwealth participants, how about an Thunderbolt Mk.III (aka an P-47N)!! 

Like that idea.  Avoid the Heller P-47N, it's pants.

The Dart didn't fly till 1947, and that was just during tests.

Do we need a vote for stripes and roundels? Or do we just do what we want?

We have no hard or fast rules for markings or invasion stripes.  You do whatever you feel is appropriate for your Whif-verse's version of Downfall.

Hi folks - anyone able to confirm what the Letter Codes for aircraft flying off HMS Indefatigable were in late 1945?

As far as "wartime' turboprops are concerned the GE TG 100A/T31 prototype was first run in 1943, a pre-production version in March 1945 and it took to the air for the first time in the XP-81 prototype on 21 December 1945. The XP-81 had first flown in February 1945 with a Merlin in place of the TG-100A due to developmental delays with the turboprop.

The Metrovick F.2 axial compressor turbojet developed out of the work on an axial compressor turboprop engine that had begun pre-war.

Futz with the timelines a bit and you could have turboprop aircraft in service by the end of 1945.

I think the tail codes were "S"
