I've a couple of related part builds that I'll finish off in the background but not as GB entries.  Will show the finished items in this thread.

Some research will be required to see what might have been actually available. Lots of P-51s and Corsairs and Hellcats. What about Sea Furies and Meteors? B-29s flying from bases captured on southern Kyushu with a light load of fuel and a full internal bomb load and wing pylons loaded for relatively short missions. What other programs could have been accelerated to provide higher technology equipment?

Very long-range escort fighters in the vein of F-82 Twin Mustang might be needed at some point.

Found in Wiki:
"After Italy's official declaration of war on Japan, on 27 July 1945, the Italian head of the Ministry of War, Stefano Jacini was planning to create an "expeditionary force" of 6,000 to 8,000 individuals who'd be sent after 4 months of training (November 1945, coinciding with Operation Downfall) to aid any ground operation by the Allied Forces on Japanese soil and waters whilst being led by an autonomous Italian general which would be decided before the start of the operation by the Italian State. Whilst the allies never accepted nor denied this proposal, they did unofficially reject an earlier proposal made by the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force who offered send a crew with the following equipment: 2 Bomber and Liaison Wings (72 aircraft) and 3 Fighter and C/B [fighter-bomber] Wings (216 aircraft) fully equipped with material which would have to be supplied by the Allies, suggesting that any Italian desire to join the conflict would have to be autonomous as proposed by the Ministry of War."

"The only Italian crew and ship which fought against the Japanese after the declaration of war was the destroyer Italian destroyer Carabiniere, which had been preparing since May 1945 prior to the declaration of war and departed right after the declaration was made public."

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Almost certainly going to do a Mosquito, thinking about a Tempest Mk VI and have a couple of Japanese ideas in mind..

Firstly I shall be re-reading my copy of Codename Downfall though. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Code-Name-Downfall-Secret-Japan-Dropped/dp/0684804069

This might have me interested with an idea for something winter based ... Japan can have some serious winters with huge amounts of snow and extremely cold weather ,,soooo i'm thinking of a machine for this propose if i can find a pic of it to get me brain working ...it would be probably a 100% scratch build .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The B-17 and B-29 were both used in the role of picket duty for airborne early warning,  the PB-1W springs to mind so something similar in RAF colours and Tiger Force markings is a possibility.
So too could be said for the Avro Lincoln bomber, as there's two conversion sets for the Lancaster and if you prefer the vacuform model kit,  I'm thinking along the lines for the Avro York as a bomber or AEW.
Could stick with the C-46 Commando and use the bomb racks from the B-17 as it won't be needing them along with the guns.
Best do a bit of reading first.

A Lincoln  with the kit from Wellington  R1629, a Wellington equipped with a specifically designed radar for controlling interceptions would be reasonable. R1629, was equipped with a rotating dorsal aerial array, the purpose being to try and counter the threat from Fw 200 Condors in the NW Approaches. TRE designed the radar with the design, manufacture and installation of the aerial blade with mounting and turning gear the responsibility of RAE Farnborough.   By late 1945, a York or Lincoln would be reasonable

Although the Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter was the preferred choice of the British Air Staff back in 1945 and Freightdog does the 1/144 conversion set for the Airborne Warning and Interception this might be ruled out as the first flight of XC-97 took off on November 9,1944 but didn't enter service until 1947, however the radar arrangement could be installed on the Douglas DC--4/C-54 or Lockheed C-69 Constellation Although ground clearance on the DC-4/C-54 might be a problem for one of the radomes unless the Fore and Aft layout is considered.
The Avro Lancaster with modifications in similar appearance to the Lancastrian could also adopt the FASS radar layout,  likewise the Halifax or Stirling.
