In terms of roundels and invasion stripes, I think we all need to agree on what to use for continuity.

In terms of roundels, what do we think about any of the following options?

Do we need a vote for stripes and roundels? Or do we just do what we want?

We have no hard or fast rules for markings or invasion stripes.  You do whatever you feel is appropriate for your Whif-verse's version of Downfall.

Quote from: RAFF-35 on April 04, 2026, 02:09:46 AMAs for the Downfall invasion stripe question... Is black and white the most logical choice as they're high contrast and would be the most available paint colours to quickly apply to thousands of aircraft very quickly. Alternatively,  would black and yellow be the next choice as the Suez Crisis hasn't actually happened yet? Or do we want different colours so we can tell that they're part of this GB?

I have mine already picked out. Keeping that as a surprise just yet  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Paraphrasing scooter here, but basically 'fill yer boots' when it comes to 'special identification markings'!

They can always be explained away in the backstory.

This was raised back on page 2.
There was no agreement.

I've previously used the recognition stripes shown on the Spit (on a jet Mosquito).  I'll probably use them (maintaining consistency amongst my builds) plus recoloured PDRV roundels with bars.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Must admit I was thinking of a Seafang mysel, and have 2 of AZ's kits  ;D

As for markings. I'm going with BPF/SEAC national markings for my Comonwealth builds, not even sure all my British builds will need them ? Tiger Force Mosquito for instance ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Phew, this could take an AGE to get through!  :(

I'll come back later, but it looks well worthwhile.

Hmm...I wonder how many Xcraft can fit in the welldeck of an Ashland-class LSD. :ponders:

Having finished off my RW IBG PR1C Spitfire, I may have a go at something for this GB.

I must admit it's not my usual field of Whiffing, even though I did that DH Hornet PR5 five years ago. I do have a semi-formed idea in my head anyway, I just don't have the kits to hand right now, but I should be back near The Loft next weekend.  ;)

It could carry several, but what would you use them against?

Would you camouflage it?

Is in-flight refuelling allowed? I know that the the hose and drogue system was first used in 1949 which puts it outside the timeline but something similar to the flying-boom was being used way back in the 1930s.

Sir Alan Cobham's Flight Refuelling Ltd undertook various AAR trials in the 1930s - give it a quick google.

IIRC the Tiger Force Lancasters and Lincolns were intended to be flight refuelled by B-24 tankers for their missions over Japan.
