Thank you! I am really curious how the Vig looks when it's complete. I gave the drop tanks and the ECM pods a high-viz outfit on purpose, to break the all-grey bird up a bit. There will also be blue training Sidewinders on extra launch rails on the outer pylons as another small color contrast. Decals have all been applied now, some detail paint work left to do, but then I think I can put a coat of varnish on the model.  <_<

Good news: even though there are still details to be cared for (the more you look the more you find... ) I was able to add the final coat of matt varnish to the Vig and make final assembliey like the pylons, ejection seats, stabilizers and wheels. Still a few bits to add/paint, but it's progress towards completion!

Can't go wrong with an A-5.  Must build my Airfix Vigi one day.

Are you repurposing the camera "canoe" for ESM/ECM stuff?

Yes, it's a logical location, inspired by the EF-111 arrangement - but the fairing is "new", scratched from a huge Kangnam MiG-31 drop tank half, for a ddifferent shape/look.
The RA-5C's camera canoe is less deep, less square in diamater, and longer.

Looking really good, and really real! Had I been in charge of such things and presented with your model there's no way the whole fleet wouldn't be getting updated to Vigs.

Even if it was a fleet of metrocabs!
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

Dizzyfugu

Almost finished now. Position lights have to be painted as a final step, but then the Vig is complete. Such a HUGE bird...

Model is done but real life took its toll again - my father is back into hospital, probably due to his cancer, and this threw me quite off the rails.

Oh dear, that's not too good Thomas. :(

I hope things improve for both of you.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thank you, Kit. At the moment he's safe at the hospital, but the situation is uncertain. Maybe it's harmless, but that's nothing I'd trust until I hear a founded diagnosis.

Sorry about your father Dizzy. I hope all goes well
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
