The Wooksta!

I thought it a horrible build, the fuselage anyway.  But my view might be coloured by the sheer number of stupid errors that I kept finding, the worst being the bloated fuselage.  Once you see that, you just can't help but find other errors.

I stopped by the local aircraft museum gift shop-
https://www.hiller.org/museum/aircraft-on-display/
And picked up a set of Aeroclub vacuform floats and just to see what it was like, a Merlin Models JN4 Jenny.  Yikes! The Merlin is really crude, but it's an artifact from the dawn of short run kits. One review on the web said it "borders on the buildable", but it was cheap and educational. The floats are all pretty nice and in a wide variety of sizes. I was tempted by a vacuform Pterodactyl but the parts seemed perilously thin.  Museums get donations of old kits sometimes- it never hurts to look!

Bought from eBay:
Combat Models 1/72  Boeing RC-135W Rivet Jiont /Air Seeker conversion set
I think that I have bought this before but it was secondhand with some parts missing and so were the decals.

Another 1/72 Hasegawa Boeing B-47E model kit, this time it will have the Grumman Hawkeye rotodome fitted with the cockpit canopy from the Airfix Vickers Valiant.

1/72 Hasegawa North American RA-5C Vigilante which will be the bases for the BAC Retaliator FRA.1 build.

1/72 Italeri Tornado F.3 with RAF and bonus decals (donor kit for the Retaliator).

1/72 LACI CV586 Allison turboprops conversion set.

1/72 Mach2 Martin SeaMaster, at last I have the parts to build my version of the Beriev A-40 Mermaid.

Dapol/Kitmaster 1/76 C009 Deltic 001 , just need a Lima Class 55 locomotive.

American Secret Projects books 1 and 2 secondhand.

It's Merlin - you really expected something buildable?  His stuff was crude and frankly sh*t right up to the time of his death.  During his life his products were slagged mercilessly, rightly so, but many of those critical started kissing his ring piece as soon as he snuffed it, praising his output to high heaven. Most of the limited run injection and/or resin people got better over time - Pegasus, Aeroclub, MPM/Special Hobby, Magna to name several - but Merlin didn't, his learning curve was more akin to a very gentle slope.

You WHAT? I thought they were all extinct!  :o

They're very good and well adaptable for various scales even. I've still got the remnants of a set in The Loft.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

One of the traders at Bolton had two full plastic boxes of various Aeroclub conversions and extras.  Weaver found at least one Aeroclub Venom complete kit, I spotted a pair but declined on the grounds that I already have several.  So
there's lots of Aeroclub stuff about, just not where you'd expect it.

And the Firebrand arrived from kingkit, but the gun barrels and one of the u/c legs was missing.  Easy to replace.

This is for my future "Professor Challenger's light armoured column" diorama.  There's the 'ceratops, a couple of small raptors, a diorama base and a human figure in safari suit and pith helmet.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
