It's great to hear your Dad is home. Home is the best place to recover!

Yes, indeed!

Dizzyfugu

Thank you all. He's doing fine so far, and daily routines fall into place again, which is a good thing, too.  <_<

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks a lot. I really feel alleviated and directly have much more energy. Good sign for me, too.  <_<

Spino

Looks good!  And the wingspan doesn't actually look too wide at all, though it might have if you hadn't trimmed off the ends of those B-47 wings.  Even if you hadn't, it would just mean better high-altitude performance

Some visual progress evidence: the J31B is able to stand on its four legs now, even though only provisionally!

Due to the huge new sculpted surfaces I will give the model a coat with grey primer, to reveal the remaining (probably many...) dents and notches everywhere. Canopy and cockpit come next, we need some pitots, and there will be underwing hardpoints for drop tanks.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Yes, they do - and it is not easy to find the proper length and position for them! But I was able to adjust things so that the stance is proper, and it looks really good. Makes the aircraft look even more massive...  ;D

Currently fighting with the three-part canopy. Fit is relatively poor.

Something short so as to emphasise the span.  A Gnat? Folland's proposed U2 rival.

Hehehe, I love that idea, but Weaver's already done it, albeit NOT with a 24" span......................  ;)

Given how thick the glider wings probably are, I volunteer a Fouga Magister, a DH Vampire or a Gloster Javelin as the fuselage...

My HAT used tiny-scale Boeing 747 wings from a really crappy cheap kit.

Slow progress. The whole area in front of the windshield had to be re-sculpted.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

There's so much putty surface area on the J31, that it does not matter. But the shape is quite complex, and symmetrical. Took longer than expected.
