To change the RH indicator bulb on my Signum, the one that just died, I had to remove the ENTIRE front bumper! And that meant stripping out the wheel arch guards just to get to the screws that held the bumper on.

The LH one was easy, you could reach right onto the back of it, simples.  :banghead:

[Later] I'm off to look at two new (for me...) cars today, and one has the same engine as the late Signum. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not, but I did love it when it was running.

I would think that having that engine type die on me and not being able to get spares would put me off getting that type of engine again, but then it's not me buying it, ity you Kit and your preferences. Wishing you good luck in getting back on the road, look forward to seeing you at Telford.

Ouch!  Hope the car hunt is successful, Kit.

I found looking for a new car to be a pain. It doesn't help that you often need a car just to get to the car dealers which are on industrial estates at the far end of towns.
But I am very happy with my new Skoda

Have you considered putting the good engine into your old car, just to have continuity?

It's very strange to me Kit that engine parts or replacement engines can't be found for your car ..hell the platform your used is from the GM Epsilon and there was 5 other cars also based on it with a good pile of engine choices to boot .
Sounds to me like they aren't interested in the repair of it more than anything.
If my uncle Mike could buy a brand new part for a 1928 Cadillac then there's parts for yours mate even if is pre 2008 .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Bummer.  I had similar happen on a bike once.  Cam chain tensioner stuck, chain jumped some teeth and the valves said "hello Mr Piston".

Here's your answer Kit.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

That may be the case with real live current GM parts, but Vauxhall has no connection GM any more. The Stellantis mob bought the whole shooting match some years ago, and one of the first things they did was scrap, (yes scrap....) most of the older Vauxhalls spares. They didn't sell them off to approved dealer, they THREW them away!  :banghead:

I think that was criminal and heaven help any Stellantis person who passes within arms length of me at a Vauxhall club event!

But on a positive note, I now have a Vectra C Estate, with the same engine as My Signum, sitting on the drive, so I'll be mobile again once it's insured and taxed.  ;D

So much so that when my lady love sat in it, she said 'Ooooh it's got EXACTLY the same heated seats!'  ;D

Horsepower means NOTHING to her, just are the seats heated!  ;)

The only difference is the rear seats are 2+1 instead of 1+1 in the Signum, and the larger, estate rear end, plus it has a powered tailgate, very techie!

Vector brings back memories, I hired the estate version out for my sister's first wedding this was a phase of mine. I had bought a very worn out Cavalier Mk1 but the clutch failed so it was traded in for the Mk2. Both were hatchbacks, my Ford Granada Mk2 new shape had been written off and I think that the Cavalier was in for a service at the time.
The Vector was very different from the Cavalier, my mum said at the time 'very posh'.I used it to ferry the people to and from the church.

Well at least you are sorted Kit   See you in just over the week
